If there's any transmission clutch slip, or hard shifts, run away.
Once you do find a good one, keep the transmission topped off. There's a very specific fluid and procedure to it.
DSC maintains vehicle stability so you don't crash. It does this primarily by reducing engine output which is often unnecessary or detrimental off-road. Traction control works independent of it.
