I may be adding gas struts to lift my RTT on my M101a1 build, I figure my rack is approx 80lbs and the RTT is 125lbs. Looking at other people's setups, 100lbs is too much, 75 works but still requires ratchet straps to pull the tent back down, so it appears in the length I need for 14 inches of...
Thanks Mark!
I grew up in Maryland, remember those winters, but seems much worse now! Hang in there.
Hopefully, I will be posting some pictures of the trailer in use in a couple weeks.....
Check out my rack!
Another quick update...
Got the RTT rack welded up this past weekend, put the 4 sides together and did a quick test fit:
I then finished up welding the rest. I kind of changed design mid-stream because I decided I wanted the tent cross bars to be welded on top of the...
If he is running hubcentric JK type wheels, the opening in the wheel will not fit over the hub of the axle. In my research, 1.75 inch spacer can just barely make it with some mods to the dust cap. I went with 2" to avoid the issue.
Thanks, I will for sure continue to post once I start using it (which I am hoping will be before the end of the month), I have a feeling it's never going to be done!!
Thanks, I was considering a strap as well.
Granted I am not the first to come up with this design as I am following many other builds on here who have gone this same route without issue, however, I do like to over engineer things and will likely do so here as well.
Thanks for the info. Pics are in the thread. I have no intention of traveling around with the rack elevated, it's purpose is to allow use of our annex with our RTT.
Thanks Markimus, this is helpful.
It was actually a couple posts back that member croix pointed out the horizontal distance issue when raising the rack which is why I decided to bolt both ends of the tabs as opposed to welding the tabs to the rack. The increased pivot allowed by the bolting of...
Hi there, not to be ignorant, but I am not sure I know what you are referring to?
The upper joint is a 3/8" bolt through the side tabs with a nylon locknut, although I plan to use a thin nylon washer between the tabs and the side bars of the rack to prevent binding. I may use a knob with a...
Quick Update
As croix correctly pointed out, if I had welded the tabs on to the rack side bars, the vertical tubes would bind at a certain point. To mitigate this issue, I bolted the tabs to the side bars which helped a lot. I can now get slightly more than halfway to my upper most point of...
Update: After doing the full discharge to 10 volts per the spec, and then recharging for 24 hours, battery is now resting at 12.9.
It's been off the charger for over 24 hours.
Will be doing the same for the aux.
Going to swap the main back into the jeep today and have an appointment on Monday...
Despite the online Microsoft rep saying otherwise, the specs on the Asus vivio tab m81c lists GPS and glonas built in. Should have it in a few days and will start a new thread.
