The shoe fits but what caused the blister?

Good suggestion. Heel blisters are caused by the heel not fitting securely in the heel cup of the shoe: This can well be because you need a 12.5 and have a 13. Try different socks. I generally wear a polypropylene liner and a medium weight oversock (I too wear a 13 and need a 12.5 - but...

    Tying flys

Very cool. I don't know if it's still there but there used to be a place in the valley (on Burbank or Magnolia, I think....maybe west of Van Nuys Blvd?) that sold fly fishing tackle and had a very nice assortment of fly tying parts. My wife used to shop there as much as at the clothes store...

    Scepter MFC can order...Any interest?

If you're planning on buying 50 or more, I'd call Scepter directly, and ask them. Thats getting into industrial/distributor quantities. And remember: If you make a big order like that through a dealer the dealer almost certainly will have them drop-shipped (or should). That saves them a...

    Benelli M3 or M4

Still depends on the inertia....the amount of gas blowback is regulated for the weight, change the weight and you can have problems. It's noticeable when you get the full range of tacticool stuff on the gun...sidesaddle, speedfeed stock, lights, sights, etc. I have an M4, but my home defense...

    Benelli M3 or M4

Pump....when you put the defense-friendly items (like a light, etc) on a recoil/inertia operated shotgun, it doesn't work so well any more.

    Does this exist?

Well, They'd be pretty short. I suppose I could create an insulate upside-down U-shaped antenna to get some length...

    Mobile Command Center

Dang...it might have been worth a bunch before he stripped it.... I was at Camp Atterbury, IN two years ago...driving in, I saw a bread truck set up as a mobile piercing studio (or at least advertisement)...weird

    Does this exist?

Well, I'd imagine it would have to have the solid edge forward.

The antenna is all fixed now....If I get motivated I may do a sketch of what I'm talking about.

    Does this exist?

Thanks, but I've got a big antenna (11' HF whip, counting the fold-over). A small spring wont support it at all. In thinking about it, I realized that a D-shape would just be hard to fabricate, a somewhat wedge or V-shaped piece of metal would do the same thing and be easier to make...

Who actually has an M416 title? Is your vin correct?

Mine is 1. I had to stamp it onto the frame... It satisfied the California DMV and has never been an issue since. If the public servant thinks it's not valid, then have her prove it. Or if she wants, tell her the number is 10 1001 1010 (666 in binary)

    Does this exist?

Between the mount/antenna and body. I had an antenna and spring rip off with a very sturdy branch, had it been deflected, (either outside the ball, or above the spring) it would have not been an issue. I had to use an easy-out to get the stud out of the two pieces (spring and ball) and make a...

Calibrating a Torque Wrench in Your Garage

Thats right. IIRC, when torque wrenches are calibrated in metrology labs for certification, they are calibrated across their range for that very reason. I have an old Proto wrench with long-form calibration certification (long since out of date) traceable to NIST standards and thats how they...

    Does this exist?

Hmm. Maybe. Or maybe I should attempt to do something that I avoided as much as possible as an engineer: Make a drawing. As a draftsman, I'm a helluva physician.

And Sorel sure isn't what they used to be....My wife bought a pair of Sorels this winter and they're a pale comparison to the ones I bought 30 years ago...which are still hanging in there. Fake sheepskin trim, not even imitation Vibram soles..... and made in Vietnam, where they certainly know...

    Does this exist?

I'm looking for some sort of a guard that I can put underneath an antenna ball mount, that would prevent branches from getting hooked under the antenna and mount. I am imagining a sort of D-shaped piece of moderately heavy, yet flexible plastic (like a C-collar or SKED is made from), the...
