    Camper shell lights???

When I used to have my pickup, I had a 5th wheel trailer that I would tow occasionally, as well as a camper shell. Since I had a recessed 7-way trailer light plug in the side of my bed, I made a male 7-way plug that came off the camper shell and plugged into the 'charge line' of the camper...

Any 6.2 diesel Burbs on here?

    I have owned: 77 Blazer 2WD, converted to 5.7L diesel, later converted to 6.2L 81 Chevy 2WD 3/4 ton, converted to customized turbo 6.2L w/700R4 86 Suburban 2WD 6.2L, all stock 86 Chevy 4WD 1/2 ton, 6.2L w/4 speed 95 Tahoe 4WD, 6.5L turbo (current DD) I've loved them all! The 6.2L is no...

    Post Pic's of your Jeep

We just went back to Devil's Den this past Saturday (Feb 18)! Here's some pics from that trip: Let me know when you head back this direction! Especially when you hit the Mark Twain trails. I've only been once, and I have a hard time finding anybody around here willing to show me...

My 97 TJ My 97 TJ: 2.5L  5 speed, 4.10 gears, 31x10.50 Wild Country MT's, 3.25" lift, front locker. More of a toy right now. An underpowered toy! Here I am trying a little mud puddle near Devil's Den State Park in Arkansas: Going for a swim: Climbing some rocks at...

What should I offer for this Suburban?

I would doubt the 35K mile claim. The odometers in those particular trucks only had 5 digits, so it would roll over after 100K and start over at zero again. I had an '81 that I watched roll over a couple of times! That being said, the 6.2L diesel engine is actually a pretty reliable platform...

    70 C-20 4x4 Suburban Father/Son project

The later 6.5L's use a cap in the valley that still drives the oil pump, but allows you to remove the vacuum pump. I deleted the belt-driven vacuum pump off my 6.5L as well. As has been stated, if you don't need vacuum for the transmission or HVAC controls, then you can ditch the pump. My...

    Expo Suburban/Tahoe thread

I love my Tahoe! She's a 95 2 door with the factory 6.5L turbo diesel. I'm just now getting into this overlanding/expedition gig. I've been off-roading for several years, having fun with my Jeep TJ. I think overlanding is more fun, however. I love my Tahoe more than my Jeep...

    IFS really that bad?

I have 240K miles on my IFS rig, and haven't had to touch any of the front end components yet. Granted, most of those miles are easy pavement miles, but still. The biggest drawback to IFS: if you want to lift it, it's expensive, and when it's all said and done, you haven't gained anything...

    70 C-20 4x4 Suburban Father/Son project

I'm sure you know this, but make sure and use new head bolts. The 6.2L uses TTY bolts, and they should not be reused once installed. Where are you going to get a gear drive set? I was under the impression they weren't being manufactured anymore. I used a gear drive in my last 6.2L build. It...

Yep, 100% factory diesel option. I average 18 mpg. I wish I could squeeze a bit more out of her, but that's the best she'll do. The four 6.2L's I've had managed to do a bit better, around 20 mpg. Casey

    70 C-20 4x4 Suburban Father/Son project

Nice build! As a newbie to this forum, I spent some time reading through all the posts. I'm a big 6.2L/6.5L fan myself. I've done two diesel swaps. First one was a '77 K5 Blazer that I swapped a 5.7L Olds diesel into, and then later swapped that out for a 6.2L. My other swap was a long-term...

    83 Suburban 6.2 Project

Sorry about your house! I've enjoyed reading about your Suburban! I'm a long time 6.2L/6.5L fan myself. Here's what I've owned to date: '77 Blazer (originally 305 that I swapped for a 5.7L diesel that I later swapped for a 6.2L diesel) '81 C20 pickup (originally 305 that I swapped to 6.2L...

Thanks, I really appreciate it. I've never seen another diesel Tahoe in person; just pictures on the internet. I've seen lots of Suburbans, old Blazers, and tons of trucks, but never a Tahoe/Blazer in this body style. This is my 5th GM diesel; I've had three N/A 6.2L's, one turbocharged 6.2L...

    6.5 td instead of 454tbi

I've done several GM gas to 6.2L diesel conversions. After it's all said and done, I would recommend selling your current vehicle and buying a factory diesel vehicle if you're set on diesel power. (I love diesel power myself!) My '95 Tahoe with 6.5L turbo, 4L80E, 3.42 gears, and 31" tires...

    Fullsize Diesel Questions

I'm sad that the big 3 don't make diesel SUV's anymore. GM made the most, with tons of Blazers and Suburbans over the years. But after the introduction of the Duramax, they dropped the SUV option completely. After Ford quit the Excursion, you're pretty much left with a full size truck as your...

Newbie here Newbie to the forum here! My name is Casey, and have been lurking around for a few days gazing at all the sweet rides! I come from a wheeling background, and have a mildly built Jeep TJ with a suspension lift and locked front end. I only recently became aware of the...
