    AR-7 Collapsable .22 Rifle

The SU-16 is a fine little weapon. It fires the 5.56/.223 round, uses STANAG (M16) magazines, folds compactly. I have one as a survival kit gun for the airplane.

    AR-7 Collapsable .22 Rifle

I've had a couple. Quality has been all over the place, from bad to very bad....accuracy was only so-so, the stock only holds 1 magazine (and no way to carry more), sights are abysmal and can't be improved (or it won't fit in the stock), and on two of mine the barrel locking nut would shoot...

Not saying they aren't. However, in a life or death situation the difference isn't noticeable.

Ammo has been in short supply for more than a year. About 10 months ago it has been almost impossible to get, and prices through the roof. The availability is starting to improve now, but the prices are still pretty high. FWIW my personal plan with .357 revolvers is to shoot .38 specials for...

Or TV's A-Team? A (alleged) Special Forces A-Team, firing a minimum of 10,000 rounds per episode, and not ONCE actually hitting anyone?

School me on home-defense (gun related).

I'm not in fear of my home burning down, but I both practice fire safety, and have fire extinguishers and smoke detectors. Likewise, I don't live in fear of a home invasion, but I have security devices that include locks, lights, and firearms - and the training to use them. I don't plan on...

How many of use are really prepared to live a long life?

You're stuck with the genes you got back when your zygote first formed. For awhile longer, anyway. However, I see the results of people making bad life choices all day long. People who should know better (you'd think) who just don't seem to care, or think that medicine can overcome stupidity...

    Dead Yellow top :(

I buy mine from Amazon, of all places.....and shipping is free with Amazon prime. The last one I bought (about a year ago) was $5 shipping via USPS and it arrived in about 3 days. I figure Amazon doesn't have them sitting around too long :)

As an Emergency Physician, I've seen a LOT of people who have been shot with a LOT of different weapons. I generally don't see the ones who are dead right there, since the coroner gets them... I have (personally) seen people survive being shot with everything from a .177 air rifle pellet up to...

Nope, 50 people hit by lightning each year in the US, 1.5 MILLION victims of violent crime.... you are far more likely to be threatened by a criminal than mother nature.

    Freshest batteries

I am VERY impressed with the Sanyo Eneloops series of batteries....it's about all I use in my headsets, cameras, handheld radios and GPS.....very long life and a flat discharge curve.

    Freshest batteries

I'd buy them from someplace that has a lot of battery turn-over. Smaller, specialty stores are the ones that will have them sitting around for a very long time. I buy them usually at Costco, or Amazon....and I store them in the freezer.

The springs in the early (after adoption by the US military, of the M9/92FS) were poorly made. So poorly made, in fact that when the US was going to invade Haiti many troops were only given 1 magazine, since functional magazines were in very short supply. Despite the contempt I hold the...

Well, we do have 10+ pages of posts about shovels.... My neighbor once criticized my firearms...I offered to put up a sign on my lawn directing criminals to his unarmed home... He moved.
