Hope you get to feeling better really fast, Mike.

looking for a sub $100 sleeping bag for sub freezing temps

0* Alps Mountaineering bags are decent for that price. I've seen them for as little as $70 on Steep and Cheap lately. Or, you can find them sometimes at Backcountry (same company) and Sierra Trading Post. They are bulky and heavy, though you said that didn't matter. I've had mine for over 2...

    The best adventure travel boots.

While backpacking, I've seen enough backpackers with ankle sprains or foot injuries to warrant the decision to choose the right gear to help support my feet and ankles. Some of those with injuries had to be carried out. As always, the job is best done with the right tool. Now, if you're not...

Eezi-Awn Globetrotter on a AT Horizon - My selection and install

Okay, well, I thought I had an easy fix for you. You can still use the short guy line idea. Or, you might consider upgrading to the TAAS at a later date. I'm really, really, really glad I did.

Eezi-Awn Globetrotter on a AT Horizon - My selection and install

A question about the length of the side walls for the changing room: Do you have the torsion axle suspension or one of the TAAS air suspensions? If you have the torsion axle, people should know that the tent will be even higher off the ground with the TAAS. But, at least with the TAAS, you...

    Magellan Help

If you're set on Magellan, consider getting an Xplorist series. I use the XL. If you're not set on Magellan, consider the Delorme PN-40. This, cobined with their outstanding Topo software, is tough to beat. I use this software and create waypoints to upload to my Xplorist XL. I would have...

    Remington 700: Defective Trigger Issue

Isn't the Army's M24 and the Marines' M40 based on the 700? I wonder if they've noticed issues too?

I'm not sure of the tow rating of the gen I. This might be right at or just over the limit.

    The more important locker!

Wow, that stinks. If the wear is attributed to the loss in fluid, they should be responsible. That's really too bad. On the bright side, new gears and lockers would be sweet!

    What good starting book?

I still think Ansel Adam's book, The Camera, applies. His other books in that series don't apply as much to digital capture and color printing today, even though many of the principles do. The Camera still applies today. All the functions you list are very well explained in this book.

Jim, I read your comments as encouragement for other members to do the same. Now, you might say I inferred the intended meaning incorrectly. If that's the case, then why mention it at all? I certainly support your using any tools the BBS software has to offer, but that's not what we're talking...

Jim, I think it is inappropriate to welcome new members by encouraging others to put them on their “ignore” list. If you have a problem with DurangoSteve, maybe you guys could settle it like gentlemen. These posts don’t seem like good start in that direction. Even...
