We got ours on clearance at Sports Authority a couple of years ago. Small, packs down nicely and works well enough to grill hamburgers and steaks wherever you go. As a result we don't usually go camping without it.

I like the lines of the first one better. If you have extra cash you could buy another and try to fit it a little better. I don't see any real reason to do that though. It looks about a million times better than I would have done, and has a pretty darned good "this Tacoma came from the...
You can always find good info on the T&TTT (teardrops & tiny travel trailers) site and the Tearjerkers site. You have to register for the Tearjerkers to read anything, and many of the people there are on T&TTT. Knowledgeable and friendly, and can answer just about anything you could ask about...
Call it the Les Paul or the Flying V........
I would also flip the hitch until you get a lift, just to level the tow a little bit.
Cool looking little teardrop, should make for some quite comfortable nights. Heck with AC, Ipad movies and stereo sound, muggy summer days will be an easy breezy...
We are both extremely happy with the way this project is turning out!
Thanks everyone! Your words of approval are very encouraging! We can start on the bedroom cabinets, kitchen cabinets and framing for the stove and fridge, and maybe some of the electrical wiring.....than we will be needing...
With that pleasantry out of the way, we started on the framing for the forward bulkhead and the roof.
The design for the bulkhead on Sketchup looks like this:
.
The bulkhead in real life:
Pretty darned good I think!
.
With the bulkhead out of the way we move along to the roof. This gets a...
The next weekend: We only had our usual Sunday, Monday off, put we put time in again!
.
We began with the simple bit: Recess the handles for the water tank hatch. This was a breeze! Just take the handles out of the package, route out a small recess in the panel for the handle to flush mount...
That is a nice job......the garage is so clean now! How long did that take? The winch is good too! Paint the shiny handle black and call it good! Again, you are proving our lack in the "mad skillz" department.......
That crack isn't vehicle specific. It's the one flaw of the 4.7L V8's design. The engine is sweet, but those manifolds are weak. Some day I'll fix mine with a set of headers, but I'm waiting for the rest of the exhaust to fall apart so I can fix it all at once. Luckily the Tundra actually...
We're back.......it seems like forever since I was able to post an update. A lot has happened in the last two weekends. I had several days off for New Years (making up for the Christmas holiday), and I actually got to work on the trailer. The walls, floor, storage dividers, and bulkhead all...
other than the typical leaks, water damage, structural strength.....axle bearings, brakes?(most don't have),tire condition, box frame is better than angle but the torsional rigidity of a teardrop makes up a lot of the structural stability of the whole unit, two doors - unless you like climbing...
Thanks for the excellent pictures. While I wouldn't qualify as a Ford fan I do find myself liking the Raptor and get a little envious ( long travel, locker, 400HP) of its capabilities. Nice to see someone using one of these for reals and not just out to see how far it will jump.....
The ST Maxx has it's own thread, in case you'd like to tell us how you feel about them; just so we don't spoil this thread. I read too fast (and realized too late) that this was an STT Thread (yeah I know it says that in the title, but....) before I replied initially.....hey at least I'm a...
I dig this trip, it has everything you could possibly want, camping, food, humour, lighthouses and dirt roads, even including a little excitement! It's more fun as a slide show/live report over pizza and wine, but this shows everyone what ya'll get up to!
I think we're all thinking that....we're just waiting for JJC...er....I mean 03Tacoma....no,wait not yet it's still 01Tundra.....to conclude the same and get on with it!
