    Scangauge question/suggestion?

When you get a scangauge, double stick tape it in various places until you find a spot that works for you. Mine was on the column (ala TB) but felt way too close to my old man eyes, and it blocked some dash lights. I kept moving it and now I have a good view of it and it doesn't block...

    Cooper STT 285-75-16

I've never had the STT, but I dig Cooper tires. I've run through two sets of ST's on this truck and now I've gone to the Maxx. Have you seen the ST Maxx yet? Same carcass as the STT, but with an aggressive AT style.....I've got 12,000 on a set right now. Quieter than the ST, but just as...

    Scangauge question/suggestion?

I just picked up a Scangauge II for the same reasons....wanted ATF, DTE, water temp, and instant mpg is good too. Right now mine is the cheesy velcro mount, to the right of the steering wheel (but still under the gauge cowl - on a Tundra it doesn't interfere with any other gauges that way) not...

    Thoughts on a trailer...

At 1000 lbs the Silver Shadow we rented last summer is lighter than just about any pop-up you can find. And you can sit-up perfectly well inside.....what you can't do is stand-up inside them.... Cost will be an issue, of course, whichever road you take.

    Thoughts on a trailer...

It's not a pop-up but would something like this Teardrop (not mine - I just saw it on Ebay)suit you? Small, lightweight, if you can find a used one with a box frame (some of the home-built versions use HF angle iron frames). A set of nice tires and it could follow you just about anywhere....

1st gen Tundra - what size tires will fit without lift?

No. The 265/75s will fit without anything else. Taller or wider (255/85 or 285/75) will require a lift, or pinchweld mods - or both.

    Kayak Advice needed...

2 for 400 is a good deal J. Esp. if you're getting PFD's in the deal. If I were looking this year I'd buy em.....if they are in good shape that is.....

Crawlarado Hood Blackout for the 01--04 Tacoma

    Kayak Advice needed...

Jay Check prices at Dicks Sporting Goods, 200 is about what they sell for new, I think (oops, I see they're listed at 279). We got our Trophy 126's (also by Future Beach) at Dicks last summer. Very nice for the money. Paddle, PFD, mounting system, storage room.....that's all you really need...

Crawlarado Hood Blackout for the 01--04 Tacoma

That looks good T. I do like the looks of the hood blackout.....if I didn't already have a black truck I'd add blackout. Reminds of the early 70's musclecars.....oh the memories! If that's a shot at IPOR, you should have posed on the rocks! No, that's not a rock crawler reference! It would...

    Cooper Discoverer S/T Maxx

Just a quick update: I haven't had them off road lately, last time was the trip to PA for junior deer season with my daughter. The steep winding track that Haggis speaks of was muddy and the Maxx's just climb right up. On road I have no complaints. The tires continue to run nice and quiet...

Tranny cooler for a 2006 Tacoma?

Get the biggest Long Tru-Cool (14,500 GVW version maybe?)you can fit in front of the radiator, custom make a few brackets to bolt it down. No one will know it's not a factory unit and your transmission will love you for it.

    '03 Tacoma Build

Bumper looks good, I'd take one of those Tundra sized if I had a better wallet. Keep up the good work!

The CrowsWing - Offroad Teardrop Trailer

Not only does she build trailers; she's built cabinets (when we restored our house in PA), our current chuckbox, she fishes, hikes and kayaks, and she still finds time to cook a mean catfish cake! . The day after Christmas was also productive....again, I had to work and she did most of the...

The CrowsWing - Offroad Teardrop Trailer

Our new camera arrived on Saturday. It's an Olympus Tough 610. Waterproof, freezeproof and shockproof. That should cover our bases for potential damage from clumsiness. It's nice and easy to use, hopefully it takes decent photos too. It may be jumping the gun a little bit, but I also...

Past the point of no return...

Agreed. He always tells me my truck can do what his does, but then he never shows us what his does......does it do anything? or is it just an advertisement for the Overland Journal?

Found 2006 Tundra with 17k miles

17,000 miles on a Tundra is not even broken in yet! I would consider that to be a new truck.....change the oil in it and drive it. If I needed a truck, I'd buy it. Mine just crossed the 175,000 mile mark a few weeks ago. Still a great running and riding truck.

    '04 DC with 235/85 r16

Not that he shouldn't compensate for his tire size, but I also lost 1.5 mpg by putting on the Cooper ST Maxx's. I run a TruSpeed Recalibrator on the Tundra and it is spot on at 65mph. I also just read an article on the ST Maxx and the author also noted a mileage loss......
