    Suspension Modifications F350

Yea, I wouldn't want it taller either. How did you decide Backcountry vs. Pintop? The Backcountry looks fully sufficient for our needs. Did you bag or spring? I'm a bit conflicted on that. I don't think we'll ever pull the camper. Bags are obviously adjustable if we do, but add much more...

    Suspension Modifications F350

That looks ideal! Is that 2.5 or 4.5? I’m quite a ways from CJC, but no one knows Carli like them. I think I’d make the drive. I’m bucking the color trend and going white also. I love color, but the trees and shrubs don’t. The deck and boxes will be raw aluminum. It will essentially be like...

Good to know! What camper is that?

    Suspension Modifications F350

Thanks! I’ll check ‘em out. We‘re in the PNW BTW. Also, I have no problem with the Tremor. My suspicion though is that he doesn’t carry 2500 pounds on the back. ;)

Looking forward to learning more. The new rig will certainly include a winch. Until then, we avoid situations the best we can where we could get in over our heads. Thanks!

    Suspension Modifications F350

Nice rig! I think if we didn’t have a dog, I’d opt for a standard cab and thus shorter wheelbase and lower weight. We’re at a bit of a disadvantage. We don’t have any technical jeep experience. I don’t own a winch because I don’t know how to use one. I see shiny, unused winches, hi-lift jacks...

    Suspension Modifications F350

That‘s a cool rig! They make nice stuff. I considered a Camp-X, but no cassette is a deal breaker. Very high quality stuff though! We run triple peak, snowflake, year round Wildpeaks on the Silverado. Prior to that truck, we’d always swapped out studded Hakkapeliittas. They’re beasts in the...

    Suspension Modifications F350

I‘m basing the statement about the Tremor on no personal knowledge, but rather a discussion with Ryan from Sherptek. He’s a mechanical engineer and they do a lot of suspension work. It was something about how the springs were designed. He said “That system is kind of opposite of what you want to...

    Suspension Modifications F350

Solid advice! (but I'll still read the linked thread :ROFLMAO:) If we were to unload it, it would just be for a short period of time if we were in a campground and needed to drive without breaking camp. That said, the probability of that is probably zero. We do air down almost always if we're...

    Suspension Modifications F350

I split this off of the Best Platform thread, because that question was really answered. Now I need to figure out how to set it up. I’ve settled on a truck, Super Duty 350 Super Cab, 8’ bed, 7.3, 4.30. What I’m struggling with is suspension modifications. We travel alone, so we don’t tend to...

Every time I think I have this figured out, I read a little more and the water gets muddy again. I’ve settled on a truck, Super Duty 350 Super Cab, 8’ bed, 7.3, 4.30. What I’m struggling with is suspension modifications. We travel alone, so we don’t tend to do much technical stuff. The last...

    Conflicted on Camper

We only campground camp when we have to. For example, dispersed camping along the Oregon coast is not very gratifying, as it's either listening to the traffic on 101 or camping on the dunes with 4-wheelers flying by. Otherwise, we dispersed camp, usually off non-technical forest roads, but...

I'm wrestling with that right now. The "off road" mods from the factory are probably worse for dropping a camper on. Ryan at Sherptek suggested a F250 with the 10K GVWR rating, Kings on all 4 corners and on the fly adjustable bags. I'm sure it's the cat's meow. It's roughly a $7k mod though. We...

    Plug and Play Lithium?

I have a Blue Sea isolator and a 30a IOTA smart charger. It charges only by the alternator or shore power, no solar. I'm not going to do solar or a refrigerator on this rig. Total power needs are heater fan, roof fan, 3 LED strips of indoor lights. entry level porch light, phone recharging and...

That goes edge to edge on the flat bed. I'm interested in something that slides into a standard bed, with lower cutouts to fill in with boxes above and below the deck. The Hallmark on the Sherptek site linked below is a good illustration (also the personal rig of one of the Hallmark owners)...

    Conflicted on Camper

Oh, I’m 100% with you. The thing is, it isn’t just me making this decision. ? Plus, the older we get, the more comforts we need, not just want. If we upsize, it will only be marginally bigger than the rig we have. Both will take us anywhere we want to go.

    Conflicted on Camper

I have a Thetford Port-a-potty, that works, but it doesn’t have a home and it’s a bit of a pain schlepping the whole thing around to fill the top and bottom. Hadn’t considered NS, but the 850SC has a nice floor plan!

    Scout Olympic vs Kenai

Remember, your tire weight capacity is pressure dependent. That tire has to be at 80 psi to hit that number. https://tirepressure.com/lt285-75r18-tire-pressure
