    Cummins repowered 1979 Dodge W200 4 door

Can't believe you still have this. I think I saw it on Pirate a while ago. Wish I had the money because its a heck of a deal. You are close enough to me I could make the trip in a weekend and taxes are coming up, hmmm. Was the bare metal painted and has it been parked outside?

    Fiberglass Box??

Make sure you add some weight to the back of your FC150 especially with a Mercedes diesel up front. Would they custom make that blind to fit your bed? From what I remember of my FC170 that I had years ago it had an odd size bed. Lets see some pictures of your FC150.:victory:

    Fullsize jeep thoughts...

I had a 78 Cherokee Chief Levi edition a long time back, it had a 360, T-18, Dana 20, and 44's front and rear. That 74 should be pretty similar to mine. No Dana 18, it would be a 20. Of course this is assuming it is still stock/unmodified. They are easy to work on. Be prepared to do some...

if you we're given a check for 40k tomorrow, what rig would you build or buy?

$4-5k on a stock Flatty and use the rest to drive it from Prudhoe Bay to Ushuaia, Argentina, and it would be the long way.:)

What campground did you stay at in Grants Pass? I grew up in N CA and have been through Grants Pass many many times. I love that area.

    Diesel engine swap

You will be better off keeping it gas and trying to get another mile or two out of your mpg's. Diesel fuel costs quite a bit more than gas now and I doubt it will ever go back down. The cost of the parts to do the conversion will be quite a bit too. If you can't fabricate, cut and weld then...

    2013 Dakar

I got Robbie Gordons autograph in the early ninties on a Rough Riders poster, had that thing for years 'til I got married. Then in the late ninties I got to see him and his trophy truck one Thanksgiving at Glamis. That dude is one serious racer.:wings: Hope he does well this year.

At a jeep crossroads. Want opinions.

I'm not afraid of the Mercedes 2.7 inline and 3.0 V-6 that power Sprinters. They are actually pretty good engines but they cost when they break. Any electronic diesel engine is expensive to repair, the Mercedes and VM Mortori engines are usually more than a Cummins, Powerstroke, or Duramax but...

At a jeep crossroads. Want opinions.

Guys have put all sorts of engines in them. If you are serious about buying it and turning it into a tow rig then go to M715zone.com and you will find everything you want to know about them and more. If you go the Cummins 6bt route then you will want to swap axles too which will get you better...

CL find, 90' Suburban manual with high roof conversion

I could see the stick shift. Reading the description it sounds like its been put together from a few different Chevy rigs. I did wonder about the SM465 and NP203 combo though.

Ahhh a M-725. I will help you say no by taking it myself.:) I would love to have one of those in decent shape, the one I have is pretty rough. It would go good with my M-715's and M-38.

    Traversing the US (and back)

I hear you about your car being a rolling bear snack with little kids. My youngest is now 7 so its getting better but I can remember taking multi day trips with 2 or 3 kids in car seats and it seemed like there was more food and drinks spilled in the back seat than were actually eaten.:)
