If you have a Dana 30 up front I would not run anything bigger that 4.56. Once you get into 4.88 5.13 territory with those spline counts and the size of the teeth you're just asking for a failure.
I'm currently running 3.73s and 33s and will eventually go to 4.56 as I think there isn't enough...
Trust me, there is less room in a double wide sleeping bag than the size suggests, especially when occupied by two. It's a trailer, sheets and a comforter are going to give each party the mobility to move about and the flexibility to regulate their own temperature/comfort much easier than...
I'd lift one side at a time with a Hi-Lift jack, fill the trenched ruts where the tires were sitting with branches while each side is up, lower it and drive back out.
The roof-line location is party because of dust and secondly because you don't always enter the water you are crossing at a level position. Some crossings require dropping nose down over a bank, although the water is only say 36" deep when you start it's 7/8's the way up the hood, nearly to the...
There are some great photos here from a Toyota guy, stuck in the mud in Death Valley, burying his spare tire and using it as a recovery point to winch himself out. Great pictures and a textbook recovery.
Your pictures are awesome! We ran this in September, what an awesome trip, can't wait to do it again. There are some great pics here somewhere of it being run in winter with snow. Something about a white ground cover makes the red rock pop out in photos.
Any garden house is a pressurized system filling system.
Attach any plain old garden hose to your drain spigot.
Open your drain spigot.
Turn on the hose.
Wait for water to escape your vent, or listen for the gurgle, then close your spigot.
Turn off hose.
Close your drain spigot and...
No, but I have been pressure filling tanks for a very, very long time. What you have set up is a gravity filling system, I'm merely pointing out that you have all of the components in place to pressure fill, without having to mess with removing and replacing a taillight to accomplish the task.
I think the whole water fill through the tail light is probably both unnecessary and redundant. If your tank is properly vented then there is no reason why you cannot fill the tank via the drain petcock/valve that you have installed. Hook up your fill hose to the valve, open the valve, wait...
I just spent the last week with an off-road trailer, and am contemplating the purchase of one. I currently run mud terrains on the Jeep, the trailer had nice, new all terrains and were of the same bolt pattern. I am thinking that if I get the trailer and match tires (all terrains), rims, and...
Beautiful pics! Next trip to Moab we're going to have to do this! From time-to-time I get to sit left seat in an A-Star or in the back of C206 with the big observation window . It's nice back there with just one seat and all that room taking pictures, sitting in a chair mounted to a Lazy Susan!
Plus one on the Rubicon take-offs, a great upgrade for a Sport or Sahara for well under a grand.
To add to this, a set of Rubicon take-off rock rail/sliders can be had for a couple of hundred bucks and they are CHEAP insurance against body damage. If you have a welder, or a friend with one...
