    Good Deal on M416?

Good points, however one has to assume when you buy a trailer like was posted, you would already have the equipment needed and skills to repair it or modify it, so that argument is pretty moot. If you are restoring it for history sake, in order to preserve it as it was orginally manufactured...

    Good Deal on M416?

Im all about restoring something if you really want to use a military trailer as a base, but that kind of money will buy a lot of nice new (clean) steel, start from scratch if you just want to build a trailer. ~James

    M2A military camp stove gasoline

Couldnt you just use coleman fuel? It would do away with the smell, I dont think I could bring myself to cook with a gasoline smell. I use coleman fuel for many things that normally run on gasoline (lawn mower, r/c planes and boats with gas engines etc) makes carry fuel in the vehicle better...

    Spring under or over axle?

Gotcha, what leafs/shackle set-up did you go with? The same that was on there? I read where it didnt have shackles when you got it, which is basically the same as welding the axle straight to the frame. I think my trailer has about 6 inches of clearance between the tire and fender, but its a...

    Spring under or over axle?

Why? too stiff of a spring? Lack of room between frame rail and axle? Why go through all the trouble/work, to not have a decent suspension. To be honest, it looks like it needs to be spring over, just to gain a couple inches of height, and allow room for the suspension to actually work. Hard...

A little paint: Getting everything remounted after the paint dried. Wiring the winch. The rear winch will run off of my rear mounted auxillary battery. The final pics! ( I broke an exhaust hanger last weekend on a wheeling trip, it will be raised back up to the bumper.)...

Stumptaco's has gone over to the darkside..XJ style.

This is just a couple peices of 1.75" tubing I added to the sides, part protection, part future tie-ins for an exo cage. They dont offer much protection right now wince they are tied to nothing, but I will work on that. Cut out some 3/8 thick plate for the shackle mounts/snatch points. I...

Fe pics showing the hitch going on the Jeep. I didnt have much choice in having this hanging so low, because I often carry a offroad trailer when we go camping. The good thing is that its almost 1.5" higher than the stock/factory style hitch was. These pictures show the brackets I...

Hope not to bore you, but decided to photo/document my rear winch bumper build. Not much different than any other bumper build, but you dont see too many with rear winches. This thread will show stage 1 of the build, stage two will consist of my tire carrier, jerry can holder, and hi-lift mount...

LATEST PROJECT - Truck Drawers/Sleeping Platform

I will just echo what everyone else has said. This is truly artful work, amazing ingenuity, and precisely executed. I was honestly expecting to see another couple sheets of plywood thrown into the back of the truck (kinda like my old platform...lol) when i saw the title. Pleasantly surprised...

What is influencing your decisions between building and Buying an expedition trailer?

Not factoring in labor, my trailer build was quite cheap compared to some of the higher end trailers. The conqueror and AT's are extremely nice, and I have no where near the fit and finish, but I also spent (actual money) a fraction of their cost, and its custom to my needs. Not including the...
