    2005 FORD F350 Crew Cab SB 6.8 V10 4x4

I’ve been thinking about trading my Chevy 2500 6.0(L96) for a v10 super duty. 80 ft/lbs more at 1,000 rpms less. I hate towing my big trailer into a 25mph headwind and the Chevy is at 4000 rpms to maintain 55mph. I did that six hours straight once.

2003 Tundra/ 89 Skamper 080S inbed popup. questions about transmission fluid flush

In my opinion selecting high vs low range is not about traction. It’s about having more power and control at lower speeds. In fact sometimes it can be useful to have low range 2wd. The only off roading I do is moving heavy trailers around fields etc for farm/firewood work, no more than ~20mph...

2003 Tundra/ 89 Skamper 080S inbed popup. questions about transmission fluid flush

Heat kills transmissions. Drop and fill. Maybe add a trans cooler. Maybe add a actual trans temp gauge so you can monitor it more closely. Check to see that your radiator isn’t full of debris/bugs. In the situations where the temp light came on where you In low range? Should you have been? I...

Small cross-over SUV functional for adventuring?

I had a ‘17 forester with a manual trans. I had snow tires on it and in blizzards it stuck To the road like Velcro. I had skid plates on it and it would slide over snowbanks like a sled. It was great. It burned about a quart of oil per thousand miles even though I bought it new and followed the...

Do you regret buying a base model truck?

I’ve never been able to figure out what the appeal of my six way adjustable electric seats are, sometimes For laughs I put the seat all the way up and pretend I’m seven feet tall.

    Dual Battery Question

If the battery is mounted under the hood I'd just use the biggest conventional flooded lead acid that would fit the space. If you're mounting it inside the vehicle then I'd do a sealed AGM. Either way I'd use some kind of an isolator to disconnect the auxiliary battery when the truck isn't running.

The Elon Musk "Love Will Keep Us Together" Appreciation Thread

I didn’t watch this one yet but I watched the last time he was on Joes show. He’s interesting just based on the fact that you can tell he thinks before he speaks. It’s hard to tell if he’s crazy though. It’s a fine line they say.

Hey Vortec Guys! / Sierra pickup / Suburban / Yukon etc - Finally has Index!

Fun fact, they ditched the AC belt tensioner at some point prior to my 2011. You have to take the pump off the engine to change the belt, so mine still has the original belt on it.

2000 Suburban K1500 budget low lift with 37"s

I looked into the suburban above the spare tank. From what I can find it's only something like 7 gallons. It's hard to find info on it. Some people say there's an extra fuel pump in that tank, some people speculate it gravity feed only. Doesn't really seem like it's worth the effort.

Understanding Battery separators versus battery isolators, for charging via a car alternator.

I’m genuinely curious about my Silverado. If alternators output lower voltage the warmer they are, and batteries don’t like to sit at 14+ volts, then why does my voltage get the highest after 45 min of driving? Ive got a voltage readout on my cigarette lighter plug and I see my highest voltage...

Dual Battery Setup - Sanity Check

Personally I would ditch the lithium house battery and the DC—DC charger and run the biggest pair of regular lead acid batteries you can and a regular solenoid. Trying to put a lithium battery and it’s DC charger under the hood might be more trouble and money($800+?)than it’s worth. How much...
