Rumor of Synthetic Winch Rope Issues in Cold Weather?

Complete fallacy, probably perpetuated by twisted cable users, who have yet to join the new millennia. Synthetic winch lines are and have been used on fishing boats plying arctic waters for years, in conditions much more extreme than your winch is going to encounter and have functioned just fine.

    Cooper Discoverer S/T Maxx

The Jeep JK is the only vehicle fitted at that factory with that tire size. The similar, 265/70R17 (slightly shorter) is fitted to a lot of OE pickups and SUVs. The 255/75R17 is a great, and often overlooked alternative replacement tire in those applications.

    military water and fuel jugs

JAGMTE will have the replacement gaskets that you'll need to run those MFC's, which are configured for diesel, with gas instead (the diesel gaskets will swell when exposed to gasoline, breading the gasket retainer). I'd recommend putting red cap leashes on to distinguish them as gasoline...

2015 Jeep JKUR - Daily Driver / Family Camp-mobile BUILD

How much weight are you planning on putting on the fiberglass gutters on the JK Hard top? I've had my loaded Jeep have the rear bump stops hid pretty hard in the back when loaded heavy and off road, I'd be worried about a lot of weight on those.

Maxtrax vs TRED vs Tracmats vs X-Trax vs X-Jack

Used once, worked as advertized. They did not self destruct, implode, cause the end of the free world. For mounting I ended up getting a net shelf for the rear, the Maxsas sit on top, easy to get to and easy to re-stow. For the price for a pair, I don't think they can be beat.

    2015 Subaru Outback: The Anti-Wrangler

We have a JKU too, however, it doesn't go L.A. to Phoenix or Flagstaff and back at a steady 80 MPH getting 24 MPG. Each has a purpose.

    Jerry can question

Hardly likely. Most modern flashlights made in the past twenty-plus years are as well sealed, if not more so, than the sealed wiring running all of the lights on any gasoline tanker plying the roadways.

    Are aftermarket skids too much?

I run the Evo Protek system. I like that it protects the oil pan, transmission pan and crossover line, and the crossmember and exhaust crossover.

What Do You Dislike About Your JK

I hear ya. I bought a JKU. A convertible with essentially a hard top a la the old GM t-tops. Ever see one of those not leak? Me either. I expect mine to leak, funny thing though, it doesn't. I expect it to be loud. I expect it ride like a dump truck or a duece-and-a-half, and am glad it...

What Do You Dislike About Your JK

Not so much a dislike as a feature I wish the JK had. I wish that the rear side windows, or the side panels of the JKU hard top were modular and removable and that the rear glass was quickly and easily removable. I always liked the J-8 Sarge, with its hard top and soft side and rear panels.

    Post Pic's of your Jeep

We've made a few changes since then! It now has an ARB Twin, SPOD, a rear stuffed with recovery gear, among other things. Next up, Soft trail doors, AEV rear corner armor and an ARB Locker. I'd like an awning that attaches at the rear and folds out. Anyone have any recommendations?

Thanks! I knew they were out there, probably just not carried by the local distributor or something. Anyways, I won't have to worry about it now for about 40K miles.......

Which repair manual for 2014 JKU?

http://databasemanuals.com/get~jeep-wrangler-repair-manual-jk.pdf The Haines and Chilton manuals generally suck. Try the above and see if it meets your needs.

    Cooper Discoverer S/T Maxx

Has anyone purchased the ST/Maxx in 295/70R17? Last month when I went to get tires I was told that size was not available. The dealer was also out of 285's so I ended up with a different tire that I'm happy with but I'm still kinda feeling like I missed out with the Coopers.

New member and new owner of an original pack mule trailer

I saw something at Overland Expo that I thought was really cool but neglected to take a picture of it. It was a trailer wheel hub and bearings used as the pivot point for a swing gate spare carrier. I thought it was a novel way to carry a spare hub. All one had to do was R&R the spare hub...

    New wheels/tires, something different

There sure isn't a lot of "squat" in those tires. What tire pressure are you running? Reducing it might go a long way in taming that "weight bouncing up and down issue". Let me know how those Coopers work out. When I re-tired last month I was told the 295s I wanted were not available and the...
