the new design looks much better.
i just can't imagine driving the JK with that on there. they are so gutless i can't stand driving them. i've tried a rubicon and sahara addition both were horribly slow. i would have to have an automatic so my wife would drive it as well.
i'd say keep it and use it to haul stuff to the dump, run errands etc.
those things are so low to the ground. it might be fine for fire roads but eventually you want to explore tougher stuff and that truck will be hard to upgrade for that. then you'll have a lot of wasted money in that truck...
i think its a cool idea. i just don't think that minivan motor is going to like it in anyway. he needs a diesel swap or a Hemi.
remember these. totally gutless.
that looks really heavy and top heavy.
i don't see where they are going to sleep there really isn't any room in there.
he should build a trailer. that way he can unhook it and still go wheeling.
on my commander i ran 32x11.5x17's BFG Mud tires. i got had about 50K miles on the tires and they still had 1/4 of the tread left.
i agree they are a great tire. i'll probably just get a set of those in a 33x10.5x15
i think my wheels are 8" wide i have right now. they have more back spacing...
my toyota truck could barely get out of its own way when it was stock. there's no way in he** i'd ever tow with one. one small headwind and i was stuck going 55 mph in 4th.:Wow1:
i really like the older rigs for their lack of electronic gizmo's.
i had a 2006 jeep commander with 3" of lift, 32" tires, Quadra Trac 2, and tons of other crap on it.
the electronic traction control really gets annoying. especially when you get into snow and mud where you sometimes need...
mine is completely bolt on. drilled 4 holes and used the tank straps to hold it in.
the most expensive part of the system is the fuel filler hose. around here it costs $1.60 per INCH! :Wow1::Wow1::Wow1:
you have to use the right hose or the fuel will eat the rubber.
the best thing you can do is go hit the junkyard. take a tape measure and see what will fit. i found a 42 gallon suburban gas tank for my wagoneer. it doubled the volume i can carry, and i threw away the old rusty tank.
