Tembo Tusk Scottle Recipes, Tips and Tricks

On the other hand, unless the handle(s) detached, it might not fit into the carry bag. I think there's room for both. Get yourself a flat-bottomed wok with a removable handle and you'd have the perfect multi-tasker.

FWC Hawk - Question on Hydraulic Lift Struts

FWC makes an external add-on kit which is probably more what you want. And FYI, they're compressed gas springs, not hydraulic, but that's just to help you search for the right thing!

Honu, see the scottle in it's "regular" use: There's a mounting ring that accepts a propane burner (coleman/etc.). Works with 1lb canisters or bulk tanks.

    Build Advice

I'm with Martin. If you have to sleep inside, you could probably sleep 4 inside a full-size van, if you're cozy. Whether it fits under 7.0' is down to which model and whether you have a roof-rack and only if you don't plan to lift it. (A Chevy Express AWD will just fit under 7', an...

    Herbie's Chevy Astrolander/ZMB Build Thread

Part 2 of the rear-rack project is now complete: I relocated the fuel to the passenger side so that I could connect to the propane tank and use it without removing from the carrier. With the big awning, I typically setup my chuckbox right near the rear of the van (but in the shade), so...

    Edgestar Fridge Modifications Thread

After going through two sets of plastic hinges I put those on my 43qt. Worked very well. When I sold my fridge, the new owner got metal hinges, metal handles, everything from this thread!

Tembo Tusk Scottle Recipes, Tips and Tricks

Thanks Jerry. I may have sold a couple more to some non-Expo folks; took it to a party on Sunday and did potstickers and fried tofu on my friend's back deck.

Tembo Tusk Scottle Recipes, Tips and Tricks

So I've used my Skottle thrice in the week since I received it, and I love it! Now I've got a question for more experienced users on how they pack it: For those of you with the Blue Ridge carry bag: do you all generally leave the burner attached? And if you have the lid, do you just put it...

Chevy AWD Van Build - Butch Van Walterdalen

It can have the FE9 code AND have one of several california-specific codes. Look for NB2, NB6, NB6, NC1, NC6, NC8, VJ9, YF5, or possibly NN5 which are all various related emissions codes. VJ9 and YF5 are probably the most direct California certification codes. Here's a complete list.

Nothing I see in those photos would require more than some light wire-brushing and the spray of your choice to solve.

    Help choosing 4x4 Sprinter.

I'm sure others will be able to provide some real-world examples of shorter-wheelbase Sprinter conversions, but I can offer this: The "short" 144" WB Sprinter is still more than 43" LONGER than my Astro van. I've got a cozy setup with a fridge and toilet and the lower bunk easily sleeps 2, and...

Espar hydronic mounting and exhaust options.

I agree, and the main reason here is that you basically are chucking any hope of tech support out the window, should you encounter even the smallest problem later. If you have any hiccups with combustion (due to altitude, fouling, or whatever), you'll be wanting help. However, as soon as they...

    Joined the Sprinter Revolution

If you and your stuff fits in an Astro, then it's a fantastic package. Lots of couples doing just fine. For my growing family though, it's a squeeze!

Agreed. If they get a viable and more-or-less cost competitive conversion going for the T1N sprinters, I'd sell my Astro and put down a deposit.

Subaru owners: Let's see your expedition rigs!

I wanted one in my WRX-"Outback" just because I wanted to be able to go a little slower over the really rough stuff without having to ride the clutch/brake. I had a bit more up travel than a normal WRX, but it wasn't a trophy truck, for sure!

    Snacks / light meal ideas

Regarding equipment: I've done several batches of Jerky using the Alton Brown "air filter on a box fan" method, and it works AMAZINGLY well. I really don't like the tiny heat-based dehydrators for Jerky work, always comes out tougher than it needs to be.

The Aussies still get the 2-speed transfer cases, though. If I get another scooby, I'd love to get one of those!

[YEAR 7!] Quit our jobs, sold our home, gone riding...

Always! I have to read most of it twice, since my work ISP sometimes blocks the photo host (paranoid on our end).
