"One Piece At A Time" Build

Cool. REI is out of them, and it seems they're getting harder to get, so I tracked one down via Target of all places.

"One Piece At A Time" Build

Thanks for those! I've been eyeballing the Disc-O-Bed Cabinet for the same purpose, but other than Mike Hiscox, I don't know of too many people who've used them. I figured I would do something very similar to hang mine.

    Three-across seating in a Fuso 4x4?

Would love to see pictures of the relative legroom for someone who rides three-abreast. I have dreams of a Fuso, but we're also a family of three, and this has been an ongoing dealbreaker for us...

    Freightliner ambulance conversion project.

    Oof. Fingers crossed, man.

    IBS or Blue Sea?

I have the T-Maxx system, which as far as I can tell, is identical to the IBS, except much cheaper, and the the solenoid isn't quite as good. I got about two years out of the original solenoid then replaced it with a 200A Cole Hersee solenoid for an additional $40. The included cables were...

Show off you Laptop/Tablet/GPS mounts please

I found that my Galaxy Tab 4 7.0" in a case did not work well with the Ram X-Grip - it didn't hold the tablet tightly enough over the washboards, and the tablet would eventually vibrate loose. (And this was on a mount with a VERY short arm in a vertical position, so there wasn't much lever arm...

Can't get relay to work, feel like idiot.

Without any other context or description, I can only offer this: Relays are typically 5-terminal devices. Two terminals are for the coil (the low-current part that's usually driven by a switch, button, etc.) And the other 3 terminals are the (COM)mon, (N)ormally(C)losed, and (N)ormally(O)pen...

    @Adrifters - F550 Surf Camper Build - Adrift Motorhome

Wow, that's a tall beasty. Pretty sure my lifted van with a fiberglass pop-top and a big-ole' roof rack is a foot shorter than your rig closed!

    Solar panel affixed to hood?

My other concern would be reflections - I imagine driving south/east at a certain point in the day would result in a lot of sunlight being bounced back into the driver's eyes - they absorb a ton of light, but they're still a somewhat shiny glass surface after all.

Mounting a ham face plate via cassette deck. Questions.

If you don't care to use the cassette player, you don't need to dink with it, just remove it. There are always a set of brackets that hold the radios to the "frame" of the dashboard. The brackets will vary depending on year, etc. but you can probably either adapt the existing brackets or make...

    EarthRoamer XV-JP "Northwest Edition"

All good ideas. For such a small space, I'd imagine that indoor cooking would be a fallback option only. As long as there's enough flat space and ventilation to get by with a butane catering burner, I wouldn't necessarily feel the need for a full indoor kitchen space. Of course, this project...

    Coleman camp oven?

Seeing that oven over the butane stove makes me a bit scared, though. Make sure you don't have ANY part of the oven over the hatch that houses the fuel bottle - you have to be careful not to reflect any heat down into the bottle area (especially for long cooks) - there have been occasional...

SOLD: Odyssey Ultimizer OMAX-50A Battery Charger (perfect for Diehard Platinum users)

As I said in the main FS thread, I moved to a permanently-mounted charger (Iota DLS-55), so I don't need the portable anymore. Not only can't you buy them in CA, they're totally discontinued and Odyssey hasn't put out a replacement charger that's rated to handle the PC2150/31M battery yet...

    NATO can spout craziness

I've been very happy with a $10 Super Siphon and a ratchet strap to hang the can from my roof rack while I transfer the fuel. (And a floormat or jacket between the can and the side of the van)

SOLD: Odyssey Ultimizer OMAX-50A Battery Charger (perfect for Diehard Platinum users)

I hope nobody minds a cross-post too much, but I have an oft-discussed battery charger for sale and I'm not sure if the people who care will see it in the classified section: Odyssey OMAX-50A-1B charger for sale. Frequent readers of this section will know this is the "correct" charger for the...

    EarthRoamer XV-JP "Northwest Edition"

:lurk: Wow. I can't wait. Can I make one small suggestion? New thread. Lets leave all the silliness from Dion, etc. behind and let Paul and Mike (and us in the peanut gallery) start afresh.

    EarthRoamer XV-JP "Northwest Edition"

Yeah, this is the "don't call us if your mechanic drops your car off the lift, take it up with him" clause. Sadly.
