When we bought it:
And as of last week:
Lots of work in between!!!!!!!!
I agree with Harley. Don't think you have built the tongue yet (that I can see on your build site) so do the planning now and extend the front area and add the motorcycle. You can always balance out by putting some weight like a spare tire in the rear.
As expected, a 46 year old trailer is not square and the top tube was not perfect either. To aid with sealing the lid to the tub, Baertrax of Dallas welded a 1" x 1" angle iron all the way around the trailer. We left the top tubing in place. The angle iron is squared to the lid as much as...
The tank brackets come from PowerTank (the CO2 folks) and it is made especially for these 5 lb bottles. They are bolted on with 4 bolts per bracket and yes there is a bottom to them as well.
It will stay this way until we get back from Expo in May and then sometime this summer or fall, it is back to the paint and body shop for tub work, paint to match the jeep, and bedliner on the inside.
In the meantime I am drawing up plans for the battery/power box in the nose. I am wanting to...
LET THE CAMPING BEGIN (FINALLY)!!!!!!!!
Well, after a long wait for the lid, another month for installing it, and finally sending it to the paint shop last week, the lid is finally on the trailer and so is the tent. We are ready for a "dry run" (it is supposed to rain this weekend) Friday and...
Decent M416's are getting really hard to find and the prices on them are going thru the roof. Too bad these were not worth restoring or converting.
The lid for my trailer is painted and waiting to be buffed out on Monday. I will pick it up Monday afternoon. While it was gone. I took the tub...
If I had something big enough they would be great. I like the looks but at 1460 lbs empty and a track width of 72", they would swallow up my little CJ. Great find if you have the right tow vehicle. Wide on the trail though it may be good in the desert.
What are your plans and what are you...
M101 US?
Where are you finding trailers? They are getting scarce and pricey in Texas.
Good luck with the potential purchase.
I have found them to be like jeeps; a hole to throw money in. lol
Yes you are crazy to buy such a bad deal!!!!!!!!!!!!
Give me this guy's name and address and I will call him and chew him out for making you such an offer!!!!
And just to help you resist the temptation I will force myself to buy it.
Seriously it sounds like a good deal if trailer is in good...
Thanks.
No pictures today but the tent, thule rack with tracks and all hardware is off the lid and it (the lid) was just dropped off at the body shop for seam seal down the middle and full paint on the outside. It is getting painted black. Inside of lid is already white. Should be ready...
My M416 had a military specific plug and is not blades but pins and way more than 7. The trailer wiring goes to a junciton on the tongue and then the second cable goes from there to the back of the vehicle. I replaced the trailer harness with a NOS but bought a 7 blade cable with 8' lead and...
I got the ARB Simpson III and was concerned about quality, given the price. Last night we set it up and down a couple of times to get familiar with it in the dark. I will set it up in the daytime Saturday and go thru it in detail. My initial opinion is very good, It is bigger inside than I...
