Sure are. I couldn't imagine changing one and finding space for a matching tire. Tough precision tire but I blew one out on the freeway. A piece of metal pierced the void between tread blocks. Instant blowout and destroyed the tire. That was a $600+ day as the tire had 20K on it so I had to buy...
2007 5.9's are the last of the pre-emission Cummins. They do have a modified cam and a cat but a fraction of the complexity of the newer ones. I've had one since '06. G-56 also.
Big dogs work too. Gallons of Red Mountain wine worked. My wife and I were going up the 60 mile cross wash road(now paved) to the Observatorio by Jaramillo. We came up on a checkpoint manned by two kids with long rifles. After a short conversation and two Tallboys and we were on our way. This...
Playboys and American cigarettes worked well too. Big bags of candy to hand out is a special treat for the little ones too.
I used to bring clean folded clothes down until the customs guys apprehended mine claiming they had "bugs" in them. Also I needed a notarized letter from the orphanages for...
Concerning the powerband I mean to replicate the performance with stock tires. You might have to re-gear to get that stock performance back. It can always be done later though. Enjoy.
Post it in San Diego's CL.
Regarding suspension,Thuren's got some soft riding coils and a custom leaf pack out back would help heaps. I've had three Callens and they are heavy.
Lots of upgrades for the brakes and steering now too. I'll forward your ad to the shop I use in Santee.
On another tangent, what gears do you have? With the 37's your engine and trans are working much harder than with stock tires.
On the new ones I don't know what ratios are available. If 4.10's were available that would help. The idea is to replicate the powerband of stock tires with your 37's.
Eons ago I found some guy digging a giant hole to bury their 33 gallon trashbag. I asked them to simply discard it at a common dumping spot used by the locals and burned with diesel periodically. At least it's centralized. I love that shot of your Studebacker topped truck at a now packed spot...
Just keep the directions sketchy to the surf spots. They are already over run with GPS and internet guided and don't need any more publicity. The scared of Mexico crowd can be convinced to go with further articles.
Lots of criminal activity not that long ago on the west coast of Baja. A local guy and his girlfriend were assaulted big time south of Punta Colonet. I know some people from Santa Cruz that were lifelong Baja fans who were camped at El Socorro south of San Quintin. Sitting around the fire...
