My friend who has a 5.9 Cummins pre-emissions '05 with a Goerend trans and Smarty turned up drove a new F-150 2.7 this week and said it would smoke his Ram. He backed off on the gas on the freeway and the mpg readout said 25 mpg. I know that's overly generous but it hauled ass with the 10 speed...
The quad cab Rams are about 400# heavier in a shortbed configuration than my regular cab 8'. My buddy and I have weighed them plus in California the unladen weight is posted on the registration. We have '07 2500 5.9's. Our fuel economy is very similar.
I just had the one set before I went to their AT's. The tire shop I ordered them through had never seen an LT tire that stout. Like everything they are expensive. They don't offer a 285-75-17 unfortunately.
I saw one in Ocean Beach,San Diego yesterday. Really a neat looking truck. The micro bed though is a no go. It looks to be about the size of a Honda Ridgeline if that. I'd love to drive one someday. Maybe they'll offer a stretched version? With fuel prices someday might come sooner.
When I used to use a sleeping bag it was a rectangular REI extra length one. Synthetic fill. I never found one of those pads I liked.
I'm 6'4' 205# now but used to be 235#. We unzip the bag now and throw it on top as a quilt in colder weather.
There's a really clean'93 GMC shorbed 1500 regular cab V-8 4x4 with a manual no less in my neighborhood. The guy found it in the midwest he told me. Looks like a real mountain goat
I'd consider a 2" if it's it out there. The flatbed's going to considerably raise the center of gravity already.
I'd keep the leaf style front. The coils and mono-arms do yield a 5.5' reduction in turning radius in all configurations but dang that's a lot of money. I was at Carli a long time ago...
