If you have full autoride (Z55 RPO code) you can do it you just need to be pretty precise. Buy 2" shock extenders for the front end, and crank the bars to 2" over stock. The sensors are in the shocks, so they won't know the difference. No need to buy keys since you will have the adjustability...
Is my truck safer than a '65 C10 or 88 Tacoma? Definitely is. But is my truck that much worse than a 2018 Silverado? $35k worth it of worse? Probably not.
500 mile range is going to be tough on anything outside of a large SUV/truck with a big fuel tank. Once you go to 35s you need power to move them, and power comes at a price. I'd be hard pressed to say anything other than a full size diesel will net you noticeably better economy than your...
I am not a Ford guy but that Wilderness F250 and the Ranger stuff is looking right. I love the current gen Tundras too but can't get over the fact that a brand new truck gets the same fuel mileage as my '05 Silverado.
Yup, Auto 4wd has been available since the mid or late 90s in GM stuff. That option engages front axle disconnect so the CVs spin, and uses two VSSs to detect a difference or speed between the front and rear driveshafts. When it senses that, it electronically engages a clutch in the transfer...
I live where I not only get salt from the winter, but also salt from the ocean. I've found GM and Ford to be the least susceptible to rust out of all the trucks on the road. Around me, Dodge wheel wells are the first to go. My buddy's 2010 Ram wheel wells started bubbling a few months ago with...
Everything about that is perfect EXCEPT you can only get the 5.5 bed, so the high rise is useless because you can't sleep in the bed. I wish you could get a longed ZR2 so I could dream about not buying one with the money I don't have.
You don't have to, because my friends and I all still don't either. I obviously wouldn't buy a Tacoma to load and tow 6k with regularly but its definitely up to the task on occasion. It's not that the Chevy had problems, because it does just fine. The Tacoma also got the same mileage loaded and...
Starting at 55-60 MPH going uphill, the Tacoma out accelerated the Chevy when trying to pass. Probably the six speed trans was faster to pick the right gear, where the four speed is a LOT wider in the Chevy.
And not a stock TJ. Bumpers, wheels/tires, armor, fuel, etc.
Not sure if I posted this in this thread or not:
~4300lbs TJ, 1000lbs trailer and two dirt bikes and fuel in the bed. Out-towed my buddy's '04 6.0 2500 Chevy (towing closer to 7500lbs). There's also a '17 1500 Denali behind it towing 12k.
I have a Leer 100XL on my truck, probably been on it since it was new in '05. Going fast down washboard roads, flexing, etc, no problems. Just pulled it off a few weeks ago because the original seals were finally letting water in and I replaced all the foam stuff with rubber. If I had a choice...
