they don't.
why do you want to get out of the PRO4X? they are pretty good trucks. small lift, better tires and you have a capable rig. though, if you are just on fire roads, there isn't anything that would be too challenging for a stock one.
Interesting. Mine is 4/95 and has the typical early D1 setup. I enjoyed the read, I'm doing pretty much the same with mine... "super stock" if you will. I'm running 245/75s with no lift and I really like the way it sits.
well, i finally got through this whole thread and have one question...
this is obviously a 95 since it has a 3.9 and dizzy, but it has amber turn signals in the main tail lights. i thought that wasn't added until 96. whats the build date on this thing? just curious.
i read the 4L60 doesn't clear the front driveshaft w the LT230, and that the 4L80 does. Any truth to that? My D1 is in awesome shape and I'd hate to toss it when the motor goes. I can get a 5.3/4L60e for cheap.
if it was my RRC, i'd grab a clean looking 5.3 from a junkyard, a NV4500, and the adapter to put the NV and LT230 together. i'd be upgrading axles soon after bc i'd be blowing them to bits.
it needs tires, the interior is in ok shape, and the thing leaks bad enough that i wouldn't be able to park it in front of my apartment. it's a cool truck and all, but i don't see how a $1500-2000 truck with a $1500 drivetrain swap all of a sudden is "worth" over twice all of that.
my 95 disco "diesels" pretty good. 126k miles on it, fairly good service history (i bought it with 119k). blackstone oil analysis came back with a LOT of copper. motor is otherwise very strong, doesn't burn much, if any oil. i run rotella 15w-40 now, but am doing a change this week to full syn...
7 slot grill (duh), short front and rear overhangs, a "trail rated" offering with a fairly impressive crawl ratio...
series > defender. that works
RRC > new range rover.. while the original RR wasn't the uber luxe barge it is now, it still remains the top name in luxury off road.
disco >...
so, you're comparing jeep's midsize crossover SUV to rover's flagship (that has a base price of over double the jeep)? thats fair. i'd say the WK2 grand cherokee is pretty true to its jeep roots.
