Building A Carbed Liquid Cooled Engine For Longevity

This is over thinking on an epic scale. Yes modern CAN vehicles are a bit ridiculous but applying that logic to all EFI is silly. There are simple OEM and standalone systems that are reliable and easy to diagnose and fix If you have some sort of zombie apocalypse complex you can pack spares that...

Flipping the usual dual battery system, lithium as starter battery, with small AGM backup.

Well while still in Mexico my normal OEM battery was really cranking slow in cold mornings. Before you laugh I'm in Toluca at almost 9K feet. Morning are often 25-27F out. Soooo I went and bought a decent AGM for starting duties. So since I was sort of forced to go this route I will probably go...

Sure-Fire Ways to Improve Your Roof Top Tent

Long time. 15 months probably . Problem is I bought it in Oregon and immediately went on a month long trip. Then had to travel overseas for work. Then returned from work and went on a another big trip and then had to go overseas again. So I really have not had much time to do anything other than...

which newer full size 1/2 ton is the best overland platform

GM's have the worst off road capability and the worst design with crap mounted in perilous places all up and down the frame rail. If that is important to you I would avoid.

Sure-Fire Ways to Improve Your Roof Top Tent

Hahahahaha. Yeah, either mine is a misbuild or the Shasta cover is way different. I can barely get the cover on with nothing in the tent. To put 2 pillows and 1 backpacking sleeping bag in there requires a ratchet strap to compress the tent to get it close to parrelel in the closed position and...

    2019 Ford Ranger Taking Orders

This thread needs a good raisin bread recipe and the current traffic in Guam to be the most off topic thread in the history of the universe lol.

    My homemade recovery traction pads

Ever wonder why no one can question or offer any alternative to maxtrax without someone mindlessly chiming in that they are the one true solution and nothing or no lesser amount of money spent could possiblely ever be worth doing or pursuing?

Sure-Fire Ways to Improve Your Roof Top Tent

I am really not seeing any point to the security nuts for RTTs. The way most are mounted you could hacksaw, dremel, angle grind, or use bolt cutters in seconds and easily defeat them. The absurd amount of money some of those products cost don't seem worth it.

Sure-Fire Ways to Improve Your Roof Top Tent

I have a mount Shasta Extended Summit. The summit material is great for durability but you can't really tuck it or fold over the top or do anything with it. My most hated thing about this tent is their utter lack of design to solve this problem. I have taken to using a ratchet strap around the...

    Using a Yeti backwards?

Beer gets hauled around in uninsulated trailers to the distribution centers with 1 to 2 night layovers all the time without freezing. The thermal mass of 45K lbs of beer is a different thing of course but still they are in complete uninsulated trailers. In a cooler being agitated for most of the...

Flipping the usual dual battery system, lithium as starter battery, with small AGM backup.

I have added to the list! I knew there was something that had this capability but I had long ago forgot which brand. Thanks

Flipping the usual dual battery system, lithium as starter battery, with small AGM backup.

Thanks this confirms some of the things I was thinking. The way I was intending to use was in parallel with the engine running. Thanks

Flipping the usual dual battery system, lithium as starter battery, with small AGM backup.

I have a theory of a way to go that I don't think I have seen much of. I'm thinking of going to a system with a 100ah lithium as the starter house battery in OEM location with a very small racing type AGM stuck somewhere else under the hood isolated as a backup battery. Benefits: I don't...

    MaxTrax, are they worth it?

People get stuck all the time after airing down in every kind of situation imaginable. No one in this thread is unaware of the concept of airing down. Truly baffled as to the point of the comment.

I had a set of these or a hacked together equivalent for 20 years driving a truck. Work really well .

    Colorado trip - gearing questions

You'll be fine but it is a night and day difference after regearing. I have a 2.7 1st Gen. In stock 30.5 tires and 4:10 constantly down shifting out of 5th, even just for headwinds often. Big passes in 3rd gear with no hope of 4th at all. After going to 32" tires and 4:56 I almost never need...

Colorado - full locking dif vs. auto locking dif

I find the locker discussion somewhat moot as the suspension in the ZR2 is the best suspension going for midsize trucks at the moment. It's leagues above the Z71 in every environment. Street and dirt. The money saved is not worth it missing out on that suspension IMHO. Probably has way better...
