Fire up the Google and you'll have enough knowledge about this and other Montero peculiarities in no time. You've specified '96 through '01 as the years you're looking at. That period comprises three distinct "generations" with various sub-models in each generation, not counting the Sports. All...

Since those little green lights burn out on every Montero out there, I just popped in some LED replacements and had done with it. Easy.

I hate the cladding on my Gen III. I think it makes a great truck look cheap. Further, the slightest trail rash and it looks hideous, starts pulling away, cracking, crazing, etc. Paint and sheet metal are much easier to heal! I'd play around with a photo program and see what different color...

If you're limiting it to North America, "Montero" makes sense. If you're setting your sights on the global family, "Mitsubishi" will cover all the various names out there.
