    Flatbed height (ballpark)

Thanks to all that responded, I decided to keep my stock bed. I spent the weekend making a kit for the new lower section. I got all the wood cut, just need to glue and screw it all together.

    Good or Bad it's Mine

i would definately just get it clean enough to use and then go camping. i wish i had taken my own advice, I brought my Alaskan home, decided to fix a few things before i used it, its been a year that the camper has been ripped apart in my shop. Enjoy, I would have guess that it was a Starcraft.

    The Money Pit Ford Ranger

Sweet, you could recover a D40(dozer)! with those shackle points. I like the fenders.

    Flatbed height (ballpark)

Appreciate all the input. I am thinking that the simplest thing is to just keep my stock bed, a new lower section sized to fit properly will still gain me almost 4" as the original lower half was sitting on huge shims to clear the bed rails.

    Flatbed height (ballpark)

Coastal- thanks, I knew flatbeds were higher than a standard bed, but I didn't realize how much, your pic helps. I am going to rethink the flatbed , I would like the floor of the camper lower. Basically the bottom of the camper would be 9" higher than it is now( the height of the wheel well)

    Flatbed height (ballpark)

Because I am a gluten for punishment I beleive i am going to scrap the lower section of my Alaskan camper. I will rebuilt the lower section as a flatbed camper. This will gain me lots of interior space. As I don't yet have the Aluminum flatbed( have not figured out what brand to go with, there...

    Help requested with Alaskan restoration/build

The roof extension is supported by the double 3/4" ply curved forward part of the sides. The sides of the cabover are simple beams(1/4" ply with 3/4" pine on the top) that rest on the curved pcs. The 2x2 stringer extention joints were staggered and doubles of 1/2" ply on both sides. I have not...

    Help requested with Alaskan restoration/build

I should mention that the original method of buytl tape under the gutter worked fine for 30yrs, with no leaks. Most of the tape was still pliable

    Help requested with Alaskan restoration/build

I have an '84 Alaskan 8' caboverthat I have spent way to much time and money on, good thing I enjoy working in the shop. I plan on doing a build thread at some point. I gutted the interior of the lower section and insulated it with 3/4" foam. I cut the cabover section off and built a new one 2'...

3/4 ton with pop-up as daily driver: Older model diesel or newer model gas?

A FWC is basically no load to a 3/4 ton, so I would definitely not go diesel unless you tow tons(literally)

    Gazell

Does look a bit hard to access, but everything is a compromise when you try and fit that much stuff in a small footprint

    Gazell

I like it. If the prices are in Euros- the most expensive model is 35k$. Not sure if you could get one to the U.S. or not.
