    pop up truck camper cover

Why do you say it's not a winter cover? Too thin? THe Amazon ad specifically mentions winter use and snow? Are they embellishing too much? I need to get a cover for my Alaskan. Thx Keith

    Pop up w/ 3rd bed

OP- stick around a day or two, we'll have you in a reg cab long bed diesel dually with 5600# payload and 30,000 tow. Shop for trucks after you decide what camper you want. Sometimes you can find the striped down 350/3500 cheaper than the 250/2500, and the gas mileage will be the same(assuming...

    Building Camper for Small Pickups

Hey thanks a lot . I will consider staples , I had bought small stainless nails, but staples would go quicker and hold better probably. Did the roof split at any of the kinks at the corner?

    Building Camper for Small Pickups

Dude , great job, looks awesome. Can you share two things? One- tips for bending the cabover roof around the radius and nailing to the sides, did it split at all? Did you just use a mallet to bend it over? The second - was all the trim for the roof and corners pre painted? How easy did it bend...

    TC recommendations from these

Northstar have a great reputation for a quality wood frame camper. The wolf creek is a less expensive version from Artic Fox, has thinner walls ect, but is probably still nice , I have looked at dozens of Northstars and would take the used one over a Palomino any day, but truthfully all the...

    Making a Flatter/Lower Flatbed, ?'s

I'm not sure I visualize properly, but Xs really are good for keeping things square corner to corner, which in a flatbed does not see any stress . Does your design still sit on top of the truck frame rails?, if so I would run more 2x2 cross wise like in the design you show above. This won't add...

New Alaskan camper pic help requested

Thanks for the link Crazybill, that was a god start. I have spoken with Bryan a couple times and he was helpful. But I try and not bother him much. He spends a lot of time helping people nurse old Alaskans back to life, but he has a business to run and I try not too waste much of his time if I...

    Custom camper windows

Those tip outs like shown above were what I originally wanted , but I saw a post somewhere where several people said they were too fragile, the screens were breaking, and the part that holds the windows out breaks. I will have to search for the thread.

New Alaskan camper pic help requested

Anyone have a newer Alaskan camper that they could take some closeup pics of the roof, where its sealed to the front and rear of the upper section. It appears they no longer use the rain gutter and butyl tape methods ?? Thanks!

    Custom camper windows

There are lots of online options for custom rv windows. I am considering new aluminum framed , double pane, sliding windows for my Alaskan build. Anyone have a recommendation? I'm a little nervous about sending off big bucks and ending up with cheap junk. I was planning on using the original...

    Shipping a truck camper?

Me personally, I would find some young college kids that I knew, friend of a friend type thing and pay him/her to make the drive. Obviously there is some risk, but the same risk exists with a pro firm, and fighting insurance company's is a long drawn out deal.

2014 Truck Camper Building From Scratch

Thanks:) looks good. Did you say what you are using for siding? I am restoring/modifing an old alaskan. It currently looks similar to yours- bare wood framing. I hope to get it skinned in aluminum this weekend- the roof anyway. Sent from my Z10 using Tapatalk 2

Opinions On Old Trucks with New Engines?

I think you have to decide if you like working on trucks, because as others have stated, lots of things besides the engine and tranny will need work. I personally stopped enjoying working on vehicles many years ago (repairs, exhaust, brakes, clutches etc- I still like mods alot) , I got to the...
