    300GD - Am I headed into a money pit?

Money Pit? Depends on your tolerance for cash outlay. This looks like it will be a lot of cash outlay especially because parts are not that easy to find in USA. If you pay somebody to do the work you will probably double your purchase price.

    Transmission bell-housing interchangability question

Thanks. Was the 30-40LE used behind any of the 3.0l Mitsubishis? Iirc it was behind the 3.5l but that won't fit the 3.0l

    Buying a Montero (3rd Gen)

agreed, Gates belts are OE to Mitsubishi- IIRC, but you really can't go wrong with the AISIN (OE waterpump) kit w/ (Mitsuboshi belt - Toyota's OE) and Koyo tensioners (OE)

    Transmission bell-housing interchangability question

    I'm looking at a '92 montero V6 3.0l with a AW372 that needs a new transmission. I have a source for a free/working AW4 w/ T-case from a 1997 Cherokee. Does the bellhousing between the AW372 and the AW4 bolt on swap?

Sure-Fire Ways to Improve Your Roof Top Tent

did a quick look - too thin in my opinion. Only see 10mm or 1/4" thicknesses. Really need 3/4" to 1", and its pretty darned expensive.

    Monteros on craigslist

Hard to believe, but when I bought my "old" '92 a couple years back it had an owners manual packet stuffed with maintenance receipts from day 1 up to the 104K that I bought it at. Didn't expect to get all that history over a 21 year span. Pretty unusual for any records on a multi owner used car.

Wonder how similar the AW-4 Jeep kit would be...

Has anyone upgraded the valve body on their transmission? TC lock-up?

TC lockup in what manner? Lock-up sooner? My '93 locks up at about 42 mph. edit: Oh I get it now - read the AU forum. Lockup via switch at basically any speed for more control offroad.

Need advise on 1998 Montero with 180K

Like others have said - being its a Northeast Truck (any northern starts where salts are used in the winter) really scrutinize the frame for rust. Worst spots I have seen are in rear of the rear axle. Have seen some Gen 2 & 2.5 trucks around Milwaukee with large holes rusted thru the frames...
