I have JKS disconnects meant for a Jeep TJ.

    Anti-Sway Bars with RTT?

I have no sway bar on the rear (removed) of my Explorer and disconnects on the front. Fully disconnected on the street is a little too soft for my liking. But on the trail it floats over stuff. The trick to reconnecting disconnects is to find level ground. I've found that my rear tire swing...

    Ford Escape e/x Build

I've read, but have no experience myself, that due to the low hanging location of the alternator, it doesn't like being submerged in water. And it may not fail right away. Hopefully that's not the case.

    1998 F150 rear axle swap to F250 10.5 Sterling

I know I'm late to the party, but the 9.75 axle from an Expedition of the same gen is the way to go. Plenty strong. And inexpensive.

Rivnut in dash as base for RAM mount?

Bolted with large washers to keep it from pulling through. Solid as a rock.

    Ford Escape e/x Build

Wichita (most likely). I got to escape Wichita for 6 weeks to Seattle during the summer of 2005. I worked for Boeing in Wichita and they rotated us up 2 weeks at a time. Real estate prices were retarded, traffic sucked, but I liked it other than that.

    Ford Escape e/x Build

Is that a HAM I see? Good lights are nice. But I agree, when I see people with those big (expensive) light bars, I wonder how much they actually use them. I've night wheeled occasionally and what lights I do have are nice, but for the most part, I want to be in camp sitting around a fire by the...

    Anyone tried using an Explorer?

On the street is the last thing I'd be worried about. It's on the trail where I wouldn't want an IFS locked. You get bound up trying to muscle up and over some rocks and you load up a front tire too much and BAM..... broken CV joint. Now maybe it's more in my head than actual real world, but...

    Ford Escape e/x Build

Awesome Escape. My wife has a 2012 Limited 3.0 AWD. And I used to have a 2006 Mariner "luxury". I really liked the Mariner. I had it about 18 months. I drove it from CO to FL and back whiling sleeping in the back for the 4 nights I was on the road. Then I got a job for a year where I had to...

    Anyone tried using an Explorer?

Maybe it's me, but I wouldn't want the diff of an IFS locked. A Torsen or something would be fine. But not locked.

    Anyone tried using an Explorer?

My manual transfercase is a 1354 from a Ranger. Bolts right up. You'll need a different front driveshaft (maybe take the Ranger's) because the way it mounts to the transfercase was different. At least for my 1997. I only ride my brakes on the steepest of downhills. 4.56 gears and 4lo is pretty...

Solid axle swap: yay or nay?

I SAS'd my Explorer. ^This^ has crossed my mind more than once. The increased trail capability is great. It'll go just about anywhere now. I don't think I've lifted a tire since the SAS. But mine is pretty finicky. It seems like I'm constantly replacing something. And the on-road manners...

    Anyone tried using an Explorer?

Yep, made the river. Went up Hacket Rock just fine. Here's coming down what was the tough spot at the top: The ledge at the bottom I didn't even attempt until I was SAS'd: And even then I banged my rear bumper. What's more impressive was getting to the top of T-33a with IFS and open...

    Anyone tried using an Explorer?

I did Hacket Gulch with mine before the SAS. Did fine. 33" tires and 4.56 gears helped. Open diffs and torsion bar suspension though.
