    CB Radio ideas

only can use speaker in unit which can be hard to hear with windows down due to wind noise. the handheld cobra has a speaker connector on it's base for external speacker... however in every other way i think the midland is superior. as far as power, you can always cut off the cigarette lighter...

    Cheap Fridge <$400 shipped

i also just went ahead and purchased one of the open box for $314 shipped. i have been wanting a waeco/dometic cf-40 for a long time, but the price put it in the one-day-luxury list... at $250 less, the edgestar certainly will do for now.

    USB to Serial Adapter

i'll second that if he's using prolific based chip that it can be finicky, especially with win 7 or vista... i was having problems with my Globalsat USB GPS that uses the prolific chip and windows 7 and vista. i had been updating drivers offered by prolific every time new ones came out to no...

    Where/how often do you shower?

baby wipes rock! however, i've also found these are tough, very wet, and work even better: http://www.rei.com/product/730067 sometimes i use cheap unscented baby wipes to get the major dirt off, then one or 2 of those for final cleaning. of course portable shower systems are great when you...

    Onboard air

i'll second the mv-50 from pep-boys, costco, or amazon, for 50 bucks. i had one for several years and it got slower but never died. i currently have 2 new ones permanently mounted, and even when they die, that was dual compressors for 100 bucks. when they do die, i am looking at the dc-7500...

    Custom permanent water storage?

i had thought about doing this too, but never really got past a little searching myself... my main worries were filling/draining without a mess since i wanted a removable option - not a permanent install. sounds like the OP already has a good wasted space picked out for it and as far as...

    Custom permanent water storage?

what are the exact dimensions you need, a search on ebay or google shopping for "fresh water tank" or "plastic fresh water tank" or "rv fresh water tank" yields tons of results, but i guess finding just the right dimension tank is your issue? something like one of these perhaps, or 2 smaller of...

Dry bag / compressor bag recommendations

several companies make roll-top dry-bags that are fully submersible. however, if you just need rain protection, check out the cheaper coleman ones... a large true submersible one might cost 4 or 5 times as much as the coleman. of course, you get what you pay for...

    inverters, ac, heating, cooking

IMO, for heat, 12v electric blankets are the most efficient form. this delivers heat directly to you instead of needing to warm the entire cab, and therefore will use less juice in the end. do you plan to sleep within the vehicle or will you be doing a RTT or traditional tent? overall it sounds...
