Starting on the front bumper today.
Originally it was to be simple simple simple, but you all know how things go. He still wants a simple bumper, but we've added a winch mount and a light hoop to the list of wants. I tried to have the customer buy a bumper from AllPro and then we could modify...
It kind of looks like the deck of a submarine I guess...
Yes, the tank will slip in there. It is going to be custom made so we wanted to give them as much room as we could.
This is the second year in a row that I have missed the race. I was excited to be able to bring my Hilux, but A - it isn't done and B - too much customer work to be able to leave the shop.
Sounds like you had a good time and I'm glad you didn't have an engine failure. Now that you've jinxed...
Yeah, thanks.
I will be back working on this project next week. I received the shocks and we're working out the front spring rates. We also have the front and rear ARB's to install. Not much longer before this rig is complete.
And a bit misunderstood.
If you have 4" of uptravel (bump) before the axle hits the bumpstop, and that bumpstop is located at the frame, with articulation, that 4" now becomes about 8" at the tire (depending on certain variables, of course).
You almost never compress both sides of the...
This is why I try to stay away from restorations. I would need to attend OCD support group meetings three times a week just to stay balanced.
Nice work Ian, x2.
Not far from your parents, apparently. I live across the hwy from them.
It's Auburn Lake Trails and it's so named because the proposed dam on the north fork of the American River that was never built, would have made a lake 11 miles long. Real estate went crazy for a while with speculators...
Yeah me too. I wish I could clear coat everything in raw steel.
This guy is a MOPAR guy and he chose the right color for that. I may have him convinced he needs a flat black MOPAR stripe on the hood though...
Pump and bed mods.
Before
After
Notched the frame and put a hole in it to provide a space for the pump inlet. This is as low as I was willing to go for the pump assembly. As it is, there's only going to be about 14" of ground clearance under the pump.
The flatbed is almost done, but we had to make some changes. As mentioned in the title, this is going to be a working farm truck. There is going to be a 100 gallon tank to hold fertilizer in the front of the bed and to pump that fertilizer, there needs to be a gas powered pump underneath the...
BKG and offroadohio have both put made some very strong points about IFS. Offroadohio pointed out that there are many more IFS racing rigs these days, which implies that it is at least as good as solid axle. But Brian's point about IFS cost is spot on.
Do you know what those KOH guys pay for a...
Hmmm, you're right.
I have been busting my hump trying to get the Farm Truck done. The bed is nearly done, but I had to make some changes as per customer request. We needed a space to mount a small engine and fertilizer pump UNDER the bed and the result is pretty shocking. I'm hoping to be...
