My CB has never been tuned and therefore it only seems to work in line of sight.
My handheld ham radio has reached someone 15 miles away. And with the availability to hook into repeater networks, your range really increases.
Do people really even use CBs anymore?
Basic rig? How bout a 90+ day road trip in a FWD Escape. He camped nearly all of it. Probably a bigger/better trip than most of us on this forum:

Built a simple sleeping platform with a drawer and hit the road.
Spend your money on gas and...
One of the guys in my group always sets up his annex- even for a late night arrival and leaving the next morning. It's not the HUGE annex like yours though. He'll set it up if it's just him or with his girlfriend.
It's up to you in the end.
Where's the obligatory Top of the World photo on that rock overhang?
And yes, that's as far as I could get myself to go out on a rock cantilevered over a 1000 foot vertical drop. Scariest 15 feet I've ever driven.
I've had Hella 500 Black Magic on 2 different rigs and they work pretty good.

Yep.

A 4.88 ratio on normal sized axles result in small pinion diameters. But I'm betting on these behemoths, a 4.88 pinion is beefier than a 3.55 on an 8.8 axle.
So the question becomes: So what is?
And watching that video, I'm dumbfounded. Low throttle and low traction (highway tires and unweighted because uphill). How does this happen?
I was really just thinking in general.
Oftentimes while I'm on the trail we stop to look at a line, enjoy the scenery or just whatever.
I've read that starting an engine uses as much as X amount of time of it idling. Of course that X varies by each vehicle and may only be a matter of seconds...
Do you load anything on your roof? Do you encounter difficult terrain? If you answer yes to either, more height tends to make you more tippy.
I would stay as low as possible.
Not necessarily a "mistake", but it could make things more difficult (or fun depending on your mindset) for you. You can't care too much about the condition of the paint along the sides (pin striping like crazy- my Explorer is heavily pin stripped). And those 33" tires that were plenty for your...
