Big bikes back in the Dakar

I think the decision was based as much on the desire to break up the dominance of a certain manufacturer as it was about safety or trying to level the playing field.

Better articulation with airbags or sway bars

The airbags, assuming you don't have them tied together (allowing air to move from one bag to the other) will help reduce sway by increasing total spring rate all the time (even when driving strait down the road). The sway bar (technically, an anti-sway bar) helps reduce sway by increasing...

    National Luna Portable Power Pack

Check equipt1.com for current pricing. The wiring is as simple as you described -- well almost. There is a fuse between the positive terminal and the PPP (included with the kit), but otherwise, yea, just run the cable (also included) from the battery to the PPP, and you are done. Buy an extra...

Apple slashes price of Aperature 3 to $80 on the new MacApp Store

$80 is a good deal. I've been using Lightroom since 1.0 was first released (actually -- I'm still using 1.x). I guess now is as good of a time as any to try Aperture out. I'm tiring of doing all the post processing on the laptop (PC) and then moving it over to the iMac . . .

    Official New Products Thread!

No. New shocks will not solve this issue. To fix the sag, you need to do one of three things. Install taller springs of the same rate, install spacers along with your existing springs, or install the proper height spring with the proper spring rate for your application.

    102 cb antenna??

I had a 102" whip on my TJ. The shorter fiberglass pieces didn't work worth a crap. I would have to tune it every time I took the soft top on or off (seriously -- when I tuned it with the top down, then put the top up, the SWR would jump from the 1.2 range to 3+) The concerns about them (102"...

A Few Hummers from the Desert Museum

Nice. I never seem to have my tripod with me when I go in there (or the other avery either . . . ). Of course, I can't hand-hold worth a crap, so, uh, my pics don't look like those. :sombrero:

    Dual sport specific magazine?

Sorry. I couldn't help myself. It's just a great bike --and now that it has had some suspension work and a steering damper, it is even more fabulous. It'll do a thousand miles of freeway one day, and hundred miles of dirt the next -- with nothing more than airing down the tires a bit.

    F800 Large Touratech Tank Build

The front is definitely a bit mushy from the factory. The rear shock is also pretty much standard BMW -- uninspiring. I have Race Tech parts at both ends (GS3 shock in the back, heavier linear rate springs up front). It is a whole different bike now. Still not a 'dirt bike' -- but it is a...

    New To Motorcycles.

The KLR will get you around fine -- as long as you aren't expecting to hang out in the fast lane on the freeway.
