New bike: my first airhead, classic R80 G/S

:bike_rider: That is incredibly cool Roseann! The big question is, will you have to lock it up to keep Jonathan's eyes from wandering away from the Enfield? Congrats! :victory:

    Bacon

The uncured thick cut bacon from Trader Joe's is pretty good, and consistently lean (compared to other brands).

    Offroad Trailer

I just deleted half a dozen posts regarding the sellers asking price. Per the forum rules, if you are interested in buying, take the discussion of the price to private messages. If you are not interested in buying, then why try to get the seller to lower his/her price?

    TJ clutch question

Bleeding the clutch is a pretty simple task. Traditionally it takes 2 people, but with one of the cheap brake bleeding kits out there (less than $10), you should be able to do it yourself, in your driveway, in about 15 minutes.

    TJ clutch question

Oh, throw out bearings typically only complain while you have the clutch pedal pushed down -- with the clutch out (either neutral or in gear), the throw out bearing is essentially just sitting there, disconnected from everything. Pilot bearings on the other hand, typically complain when...

    TJ clutch question

Both of them are essentially little single acting, spring return, hydraulic cylinders. As such, they only have fluid on one side of the piston. If you are getting fluid to the dry side of the cylinder -- the seals are bad and you need to replace it. The system basically works like this...

    TJ clutch question

It's self adjusting in the same way that your disk brakes are self adjusting. Obviously, something isn't right -- I'd start with a leak check, followd by bleeding the system. BTW, google says that you can buy the master and slave cylinders as separate components.

    TJ clutch question

The clutch master cylinder is what is mounted on your firewall, right next to the brake master cylinder (brake = clear/white reservoir, clutch = all black and smaller than the brake master). The clutch slave cylinder is mounted on the side of the transmission, and is connected to the clutch...

    Introducing . . . Grendel.

:xxrotflma Sorry to be a dream killer. :costumed-smiley-007 Actually, being friends with a lot of these folks has opened my eyes to the nature of small business ownership / sole proprietorship, etc. Even though I have never worked for myself, I always thought it was something that everyone...

    The Bigger Red Pig

They probably sold a single to someone who damaged one (accident, broken leaf, etc), or their supplier either shorted a large order.

    Editing Software

There are some tutorials on the Adobe website. I'm not sure how far back they go . . . but last I checked CS4 and CS5 were covered.

    Introducing . . . Grendel.

I dunno 'bout that. He stopped by one night last week -- with a load of drywall on his utility trailer. He needed to pick up some coffee brewing stuff that I had borrowed. For some reason I don't think "a load of drywall and coffee" are the things that the dreams of an Executive Editor...

    Editing Software

Lightroom until I went to Mac (forced to buy new software), so I went with Aperture when the Mac App store opened. Cost was a consideration -- the App store had it for $80. It does everything I need (which isn't much).

    Post your camp coffee setup

Yea, it can. It starts going south right away. By two weeks or so, it is completely flat -- and remember, that two weeks starts from the day it is roasted, not the day it was opened. If it was packaged in the first day or two (while still outgassing CO2) in an air-tight container with a check...

    Post your camp coffee setup

Yes you have about 2 days from the time of roasting to take advantage of the outgassing. Just be sure to use a check valve in the packaging, otherwise it will blow up like a balloon. The check valve is also what lets the oxygen out when it is displaced by the CO2. Just be aware that once that...

Bodum makes a nice all-stainless french press -- part of their 'Columbia' series, I believe. I have one of the double walled versions, and can attest to it's quality and durability. Drop a glass press on a rock and the results are predictable (not that I've ever done something like that...

Sorry, no link. I bought mine at JC Penny -- but I've seen them at Bed Bath and Beyond (despite the name, they have a decent selection of kitchen stuff), Safeway, etc.

If you ever find yourself looking for more body out of dripper cone brewed coffee, try using one of the reusable metal filters ('Gold Tone' filter) instead of the paper filters. You'll actually get a little more flavor out of it too -- but it does involve extra clean up time.

Zassenhaus Turkish Mill for grinding duties. For morning coffee, we use either Clever Coffee Drippers, or a French Press -- all depends on our mood. The French Press gives more flavor and body, which is a good thing on cold mornings, but during the summer when it is significantly warmer (or...
