    Zero DS Upgraded for 2011

If you venture off into the dirt very far -- take a spare drive belt and the tools to change it along for the ride.

Bad News for Rubicon Express Customers

Beyond that, there is still the issue of the rapidly changing economy. A business model that worked just fine a couple years ago may not work at all in the current economy. Hopefully the 'reorganization' that RE is going through will set them up for success in the current market, and allow...

    uptick in interest in 250cc

That all depends on what *you* want it to do. My '81 Honda XL250S, would push me (a shade over 200#) at near 70mph -- with a roached top end. It only made 17 hp from the factory -- I'd guess it was down 25 - 30% from that. It would take a bit to get there, but it would do it. How fast do you...

    uptick in interest in 250cc

If you are looking for a casual ride (city commuting and casual bumming around the back roads), the little 250s are absolutely perfect. The last time I was in Mexico, I think I put more miles on the DR200 than the Husaberg. The DR was just a great ride for casual exploring . . .

    BMW GS 650 + and - ?

I got a screaming deal on the Husaberg. It's not really my style of bike, but it is so damn fun to ride, I just can't get myself to part with it. I ride it at about 10% of its potential -- kinda like an old geezer putting around in a ferrari, goosing it every now and then . . .:sombrero: BMW...

    BMW GS 650 + and - ?

The picture is indeed of the 'old' F650GS, but BMW still sells the same basic bike under the G650GS badge. G bikes are the singles F bikes are the parallel twins R bikes are the horizontally opposed twins K bikes are the inline 4-cyl. Your descriptions of the old 650GS and the newer...

Fridge in back of truck bed or in cab?

You'd be hard pressed to hear it over a cummins -- even if you have your ear pressed up against it. I can't hear mine over my 24 valve - to verify operation, I have to put my hand down by the condenser fan so I can feel the air movement. The heat load is minimal, relative to your trucks A/C...

How to Become a Professional Photographer in 14 Easy Steps

That last one is generally a good thing for those of us who like photography as a hobby, but know we'll never make a living at it.

Overland journal executive editor leaves the desk for the saddle.

I hope we continue to see Jonathan's influence. He always has some well formed thoughts and opinions that add a great deal to the depth of the magazine. It just wouldn't be the same without his voice.

Yes, that would work. Alternately, I forgot about spring training . . . I'll be in PHX on March 13th for a game (not sure which game).

    Weezerbot's Garage Sale

Would you be able to deliver the awning to the Overland Expo (payment can be arranged before that)? I don't know if I'll be through PHX before then . . .

Fridge in back of truck bed or in cab?

I put mine in the back of the cab, it clears the bed out for sleeping. Yes, even with a full size truck, putting the fridge back there was blocking out a big chunk of real estate (we don't use an elevated platform to sleep on).

    Pipe Benders

Also consider watching the classifieds, craigs list etc -- not just for used tools, but for a local looking for work. I used to see an ad in the classifieds every week, a local guy charging $5 per bend. If your bumper design is simple, and you won't be using a bender too often, this can be...

Not a Dual Sport, but an Adventure bike

IMO, an 'adventure bike' is simply a bike that happened to be between your butt and the ground when you were on an adventure. 'Dual Sport' is a term used by manufacturers to try to describe a bike that has a little bit of suspension travel, an upright seating position, and meets DOT standards...

    Custom TJ Springs

OME makes a heavy rear spring for TJs -- but they are only ~ 2" lift. If you combine those with the Nth degree (?) spring relocation kit, you net close to 4" of lift. As a bonus, the relocation takes the bow out of the springs caused by rotating the housing up to use a DC driveshaft on the...
