    2005 Rubicon LJ

Tires arrived and mounted. All in less than $500. So far I like the road ride. I have air pressure set at 30# right now and we may adjust more, we'll see. Took them on a little trail on our property with a creek bed crossing and a short steep hill. No issues whatsoever. I like the look...

Inflatable pillows, are they any good?

I use an inflatable as a base with a hunting seat pillow on top of it. Works like a charm. Probably would take up same room as a regular pillow but this way I am "rugged" :-)

Indel B Travel Box Fridge Test and Comparison

We are over one year with several trips and even some home use of our Indel B. Very happy with it. We use an inexpensive Advanded Auto lead acid marine house battery that we switch to whatever platform we are using for a particular trip (we have a camping trailer and a more off road oriented...

Airstream is back with the Base Camp trailer

Dendy I so appreciate the article you wrote. As much as I would like ot be that guy who gets lost somewhere across baja or the Australian outback, reality rears it's ugly head. We have moved from tent camping to a pop up and now are in a T@B. Both Ann and I are sure there is an Airstream...

Airstream is back with the Base Camp trailer

I like the design. We moved into a T@B back in the spring for our camping, and this seems like an upgraded version of that general concept. Place to stand to dress, place to cook indoors if needed, place to sit in bad weather and spend most of your time outside. While $35k is a lot of money...

Not huge fan of the load range either. On our Tacoma, we have found a sweet pot at about 28 psi that takes the harshness out of the ride, yet still firm enough to not be squishy in the corners. With as much work as I do with the jeep on the farm and in the woods, I suppose the extra plies may...

    2005 Rubicon LJ

Went ahead and ordered the Treadwright Wardens in 235/85/16. Been very impressed with this tire on Ann's Tacoma over the last couple thousand miles. Should be here in a week or so. https://www.treadwright.com/collections/filter/products/warden-ii-w2316e?variant=9474897987

Mech Fan upgrade for your 5 blade TJ (Mods on a Budget)

I appreciate this info. To me the one failing of the 4.0 is that it is difficult to keep cool under heavy loads, aka trails, towing, etc...

The PDXJ: Project 2001 Jeep Cherokee

I ran a Dana 35 in my 2001 XJ no problem. I added chromo shafts and a ruffstuff diff cover to stiffen things up. For lockers, look at the Spartan lunchbox. I had my xj set up similar to yours and with that locker in the rear, it would go anywhere I thought appropriate for the rig. To make...

    Camper shell camping

I'd go for the cot + whatever pad suits you. Gives you a place to sit down up off the bottom of the truck bed.

ultra slow 2001 Jeep Tj build

Got it. Recovery points are a must for sure. Try to pick up the extra bracing for mounting the rear bumper, it'll help keep that bumper where it is supposed to be. I was just talking with my son and he is semi on the hunt for another TJ and wants to set it up much like you are doing. We are...

    2005 Rubicon LJ

In preparation for a drop down tailgate I am picking up this weekend, I added back my Bog Daddy Off Road rear bumper with tire swing. I cut off the corners and "underbody protection" to save weight and they did not work well anyway... and welded caps on the ends of the bumper tube.

Why the Swing away rear bumper? Your tailgate should handle the 32's no problem.

    Exploring topless

I am a fan of soft tops. I currently have a rampage frameless on my LJ. It is noisy at highway speeds, but other than that I have no complaints really. The top portion always stays on, the allure of going completely topless faded for me after too much sunburn and too many times caught in the...

We have about 1000 miles on treadwright warden's on Ann's tacoma. I have to say that so far I am impressed with their ride and traction. The tread is very sinilar to BFG KO's. I really prefer MT's but not sure I need them anymore. Not much rock crawling or mud in my jeep these days. Lots of...

Leaning that way in an AT tread. I like the narrow look and with how I am using the jeep for the most part should be fine. Only thing I am wondering is if the Stock Rubi Moab rim i stoo wide for this tire?

    2005 Rubicon LJ

Ann will be teaching a class at Expo and she is excited for that. I am toying with taking the whole week off between the two events and decompressing a bit. Remains to be seen. As for the jeep - the OPDA seems to be doing well. I have also removed the MACS CAI I put on a year ago or so...
