    1991 Suburban 2500

Luckily my wife went to school with the owner of the local transmission shop. She contacted him for me last night. He said to drop the Suburban off on MOnday morning and he will get it taken care of in time for my trip.

And I quite sure the mounts are at least contributing to the problem, as I look at all the other rubber on the truck (body mounts, sway bushings, etc..) they are all in a sad state.

    1991 Suburban 2500

Thanks Mike and Larry. I am going to work with my local transmission shop this week to get them to do the fork pads, replace trans and xfer case mount and do a complete transmission service (since it is there anyway). Hoping I can get them on the phone monday morning and get it back in time...

    1991 Suburban 2500

Thanks for the info. I definitely don't have time to do it myself.. especially since the typical 3 hour fix for me is likely a whole day +. At least now I have an idea of what to tell the guys and what to expect as far as their charging. Thanks. John

Thanks. I have just a few days before I leave for my Winter Safari trip. Might have to bring this to my local transmission guy.

    1991 Suburban 2500

First trip in the snow today. Not a big snow or trip but enough for me to start getting a feel for the suburban in the snow. Here are a couple things I noticed: I prefer the jeep handling in the snow. I think this has to do with weight, being an auto vs. a manual and what I am used to. Also...

Awesome. Thanks for the diagram and the link.

My 1989 Suburban with a Westfalia top grafted into it... also dual 360 swivel seats

So if I read right, earlier in your thread, it appears as if you sandwhiched the swivel from the VW front seats in between the base and the slider of the Chevy seats... is that a correct description. My wife loves the idea of being able to swivel her seat, so I am initerested in whatever detail...

    1991 Suburban 2500

Thanks MTCK. I am pretty happy with the best at the moment, excpet it looks like I have to track down a vacuum leak in regard to the vent control not working. HEat works fine, just: 1) Cannot change what vent it comes out of... it comes out all of them... floor, dash, defrost and 2) Even...

You are absolutely right Justcuz. I have never worked with Drum brakes before... or I should say, I have never had an issue before. I was eventually able to free the drum from the pads - It was like a total immersion study session via UofG (University of Google) with side work from Youtube...

Project “Polar Bear”: 1989 V2500 Suburban

Thanks Larry. One more question and I will cease the hijack... for a lift this size, for the purpose of a DD and fmily overlander, do you object to the use of blocks in the rear? My rear springs are in good shape. Thanks John

Project “Polar Bear”: 1989 V2500 Suburban

Larry, I saw on another thread from a couple years ago that you recommended Superlift front springs. I ma looking to do a 2 - 2.5" lift in order to: 1) replace the worn front springs on my burb and 2) be able to fit 255/85/15 tires. They are skinny 33's or so. Just thought I would check and...

    1991 Suburban 2500

Update on the Lock Right install - Working flawlessly and quite invisible in on road operation. I have about 80 miles of road driving in it and really cannot tell a difference in handling. Very happy with the result. John

Smooth Riding Shocks for 2500 Burb?

I never used to believe the marketing and hype of the premium brand shocks. Then a few years ago got the opportunity to upgrade to blistiens on my Jeep LJ. The difference in ride, on road and at speed off road made me a believer. The only other shocks I have had that made a favorable upgrade...

New GM square body guy on board

Thanks for the info on the 6.2. My 350 is running well, but someday instead of a rebuild I would like to go to the 6.2. I don't need HP or towing, but mileage, durability, etc... I also have 4.10 gears and the 32" tire size was stock on the 2500's. I will throw 33's under there next time...

New GM square body guy on board

Welcome! Nice Burb you have there... any idea about lift and tire size? How does it drive with the 4.10? Reason I ask is mine also has the 4.10 and I am contemplating a lift and moving up to 33's. And... where did you find the 6.2 that you are going to put in? John
