Skid Row Engine and Control Arm Skids TJ/LJ

I have these Skid Row skids. My jeeping has moved away from rock crawling, etc... so I am getting rid of these. I had these on my 2003 Rubicon and my 2005 LJ Rubicon. They are used and used hard. Thick heavy duty steel. Engine skid has slight bend but does not interfere with mounting or use...

    2005 Rubicon LJ

So not much going on in my jeep world as of late... return to stock size tires, jeep ride great, hitting 15.5 mpg... quiet ride from the bfg AT's... Little Joe (4 years old) and I are sitting on the porch over the weekend, he is playing, I am reading... I say to him, "Joe that's a nice jeep...

    Project Long Range LJ

Agree with EugenetheTJ on the steering... no need for trackbar or pitman arm at lower heights. Most important part for your ride compliance is shocks. I have RC 2.5 springs and bilstein 5100 shocks, riding on stock moab rims with BFG AT's and it is the smoothest riding jeep I have ever had...

Truck looks great. Can you post some pics of the interior of the truck be when the "nest" is popped up and when it is closed? Very cool indeed. John

    Dynabeads

I went with Centramatics, which I suppose works on the same principle, although more expensive. I am satisfied with their performance. Not perfect but good.

AEV Brute Expedition Build in Dubai

I am having great success with the hood vents on my 2005 LJ. I am not a scientist but the engine has not gotten close to being too warm and the hood is only warm to the touch rather than scalding. Our summer here in North Carolina may not be the desert you are in, but regularly up to 95-100...

    2005 Rubicon LJ

Quick update or two. Have really been enjoying the BFG AT's I picked up used. Went from 33x12.50 MT's back to 245's (31's) that were stock size on this jeep. Just a realization of how I am using the jeep these days. Lots of road miles, work around the farm, but limited trail duty. Also...

    Bow for deer

I am not opposed to compounds at all. Just figured if I was headed in the bow direction I would go with something traditional. Why do you ask?

More proof that Jeep is the leader in 4x4 overland vehicles

Honestly blows my mind. In the years I have been participating on Expo, this is the most replied to thread I have ever seen. Basically a "mine is bigger than yours" series of tantrums going on, over and over. Disheartening to say the least. There are a few comments that contribute to the...

2005 LJ Rubicon -debuild and rebuild for expo travel

Nice. I just down graded slightly from 33x12.50 back to stock size 31x10.50. Enjoying it much better now. It is so easy to get caught up in builditis. Good news is that it is cheaper devolving than it was when building... good luck to you. Save weight, and as Hee Hawdy says... do it ASAP...

    Bow for deer

Thanks Robert. In researching I see that here in North Carolina there is a 40# draw weight minimum. So I am on the "hunt" for something. Looks like I can pick something up relatively inexpensive off ebay or craigslist. I appreciate your comment. John

    Bow for deer

Hey all, I am an experienced rifle hunter for white tail deer. I am looking to also incorporate bow hunting this season, as the season is much longer and I would get an early start. I also like the perceived simplicity of the bow. Years ago I built a self bow and had fun shooting it, although...

    2012 orange crush

So the drop brackets put the control arms back to the correct angle, right? Jeep looks great. Love the wheels. What are your thoughts on the treadwrights?

    Rango.....1942 Willys MB

The additions you have done have gained weight, but I think oh so needed as you go out on this adventure. I am, as I am sure we all are, green with envy. Keep us posted enroute or when you get back!

    2005 Rubicon LJ

LJ for the win :-) Overall a much more usable vehicle. I tow a lot and this is much better at it that the TJ I passed on to my son. Pretty sure his TJ is a better trail machine, but such as it is...

    C.Shontz 2001 Jeep Cherokee (Progress)

Well said. Although I sold my 2001 XJ and went with my current 2005 LJ, I think you have pinpointed the whole thing. It is all a great balancing act and in the end, follow your heart, because seriously... that's what this is about. Over my almost 30 years of jeeping, I keep on returning to...
