    2005 Rubicon LJ

Nice. Really came out well. I will get to that on mine, just for touch up at some point. On another good note, my wife has commented repeatedly about the half doors and how much she likes them. Today she also bought into my someday plan of repainting the jeep a satin or flat green or dark...

    2005 Rubicon LJ

Yes. Whole new vehicle. Feel at home again. Mine also came with new upper skins, and the guy is likely making money from me, but he is a young guy, a Marine, just starting out in civilian life, honest, hard worker and salt of the earth and so I hope he does do well. Paint needs to be updated...

    From Tundra to Jeep?

Probably depends on how you plan to use it. A well equipped FJ is capable on 99% of trails across the country, and probably most would say it rides better on the street. If you are really after offroad ability and are going to build a beast, go with the jeep. OR you are just getting the jeep...

My rear bumper/tire swingout is up for sale in the for sale section: http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/128182-Jeep-LJ-Rear-Bumper-tire-carrier-Big-Daddy-Offroac Changing gears a bit with my build and don't need the beefiness of this bumper/swingout. John

Jeep LJ Rear Bumper tire carrier - Big Daddy Offroac

This is a very beefy rear bumper with tire carrier combo. It is made especially for the LJ since it has underbody protection at the rear corners that extend to the wheel well. To put on a TJ you would trim that underbody protection. This review will give you an idea of what I am talking...

    Tales of the Grey Mouser...

Right on. I am with you. Oldest graduated in December, middle is still in and the youngest is a long way off. Damn expensive. Good luck. John

Picked up some half doors. They are not perfect, but color matched inside and out. I like it. Wife likes it too.

What mpg are you guys getting?

05 Rubicon, just went back to stock size 31" tires and stock rims, 2.5" RC lift. 14.9 around town, 16.5 highway as long as it's flatish and I keep is around 65. Knock both those numbers down at least 1 mpg when I was on 33's with steel rims.

Those are some long rides. I do not have much interest in that stuff. I workout regularly and riding the MTB is my reward. even though it is a workout, I love it and have more fun than I do pain. Congrats on still riding through your injuries. I am continuously amazed at what folks can do...

So best news on the tires and rims is that the ride is much better and quieter. The second best news is that I averaged 16.5 MPG on the highway. Nice improvement and will pay for the tires and rims through reduced fuel costs inside of a year.

My boy Jonah and I completed our first Tough Mudder yesterday in Virginia. Awesome time and great Fathers Day weekend for me. We have decided that our team name is Chug Chug, since that is how "we" run. He, at 19, of course is kind enough to wait for his dear old Dad. I was not quite the...

Nice Bike! Yep, still riding a bit. Like most of us, I think, not as much as I want to. I am still on my On One and still love it. Everytime I get tempted to upgrade to the latest and greatest, I find myself describing the on one to a t as to what I would want, so here I am. I am pretty...

Thank you. I am working on sidelining my ego... I suppose that since I am putting about 30k miles on the jeep, I will be at this again next year so, what the heck, I can do anything for that amount of time. Jeep will still do everything I need it to. John

Well I have ignored the sage advice of everyone who commented on tire sizes... got a good deal on some BFG KO AT's already mounted on Moabs. So I am back to stock on wheel size and on rims. Not necessarily what I want for sure but: 1. Good price 2. I like being back on Moabs - never should...

    XJ engine oil cooler install

Very cool. Seems like a great idea even if one is not having overheating issues. One question, with the engine designed for the 195 tstat, does going to a 180 tstat interfere with any other functions? John

Thanks for the input Ryan. I have been frequenting Uwharrie for all kinds of activities for the last 25 years and yes, we are blessed for sure. I agree with you about the 35's. Although it was on a TJ wheelbase, I grew my 2003 Rubi to 35's and realized the difference off road was not worth...

    98 XJ New Adventurer Build

Thanks for the detail. as we approach summer I am evaluating the hood vent install I did a few weeks back and seeing if it makes a difference. I can tell you that it easily vents heat out from under the hood, especially when idling... you can see it. I went with the gen right vents, because I...
