    2005 Rubicon LJ

Well... you have given me info to continue to ponder on... and I appreciate it. I value the thoughts of those of you who will take the time to respond. I am a BIG fan of the 33x10.50 tire size and wish it was on the market in more styles from more manufacturers. Keep thoughts coming. John

    2005 Rubicon LJ

Two comparison shots. If I go to 31's I will likely track down some stock jeep rims since I won't need the backspacing anymore, so this is a fairly accurate photo comparison. Input appreciated. John

    2005 Rubicon LJ

I am at a crossroads of a sort. My son is in need of new tires. I am considering handing over my 33's to him. He drives little enough miles that they will last him a year or two. In searching for replacements, I am astounded at the prices. Seems like for 2 33's I would wind up paying close...

    98 XJ New Adventurer Build

When you changed out the cooling system, did you do everything? Did you replace with stock or upgrade on certain items? Just asking because this is the only weak point in the 4.0 platform in my opinion. I see upgrades in my future, hopefully before there is an issue. In any regard any...

    Jeep/Land Rover 109 hybrid

That is part of what makes this build awesome. It would be anyway, but applying the logic of what you already had and making it work, give it an "everyman" feel. Great job, can't wait to see the finished product. John

"Once the pain dries..." Perhaps a typo, but maybe subliminal:) Rockers look great.

    Budget TJ build

That is a great purchase price. As for tops, if you are interested in saving money on that part, I bought a smittybilt top for my sons 2000 TJ a year ago. It has turned out to be a great product. Fit great and is holding up really well. Very inexpensive. If you don't have the soft top...

    My 2006 LJOE

Damn sure could not find a stock one and build it like you have for that amount. Good luck with your sale. John

I have always been a fan of skid plating the underside. In your case, even though you have not hit the oil pan and tcase, since you are about to head out on the UA, makes sense to do it. On my last TJ I was skid plated underneath from front to rear for the most part. On 33's easily followed...

    My new unlimited rear windows

I think it is cool if it suits you and looks great. Do you find any issues with visibility with backing up, etc?

    2006 Lj Build Prep...

What? Why in the world would you do that? One of the best purpose built jeeps around.

    Jack's "new" 2006 LJ Rubicon

Great update Jack. Jeep looks great. I am sure with the gearing and turbo, it drives great too. John

    Wrangler "completely new in 2017"

Ditto. All rubicon related performance features, delete ridiculous electronic "do for me's" what I can easily do myself, Spartan interior. More beef, less parsley trimmings to make the plate look good, so to speak. Diesel? I dunno, would have to make a direct comparison on costs (purchase...

    2005 Rubicon LJ

What qualifies as a good day to you? I will tell you about a good day for me, it was today... 1. Installed Genright hood vents. I had the front piece laying around and bought the other 4 pieces a few months ago. Install was long and slow, and if I had to do it again I would have gone with...

    My 2006 LJOE

Let's see some pics of your rig as it sites today. I have seen pics of it on the NC Outerbanks trip, but maybe others here have not. Great looking jeep well built for real use, it seems. John

    Kargo Master 5025-1 (74" x 52") on Jeep Wrangler Unlimited (2005) (LJ)

Can you report on the effect of the congo cage on wind noise and gas mileage? I feel stupid asking this when we are talking a soft top jeep with MT tires, but, well it ain't the first time I have asked a stupid question... and another... soft top up and down? is the rack in the way? John

'97 Jeep TJ - Need ideas for side view mirrors

This is what I do. I prefer it over the permanent mirror relocators that you can find. Even prefer it over the stock ones. The mirror actually is useful and meets the legal requirement (here in NC) of having a driver side mirror. John

2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon Uberlanding Build

I don't think you will be disappointed. I have a buddy running them on his LJ and they are heavier duty than expected and look great. They are on my list for sure. John

    Rango.....1942 Willys MB

Just got caught up on your thread. Really enjoy your build and ideas, for simplicity without being so married to "how it was" that you are using what will work best for your purpose. Thanks for a good review on the engine rebuild. Way beyond what I will ever likely do, but fascinating to see...
