Icons have been excellent so far. Rear 2.5" resi are spendy but resolved issues with bottoming out over rough terrain. Ride is fantastic especially if you like driving fast on back roads and trails. Front 2.5" resi have been good overall. I'm running the 700lb spring up front which is really...

Tacoma 2008 long bed and FWC

I'm rolling with 900lbs over stock on the rear axle everyday. Add another 500-600lbs loaded for trips. OME HD springs couldn't handle the weight. Went to a custom leaf pack by Deaver Spring and added 2.5" Icon w/ Resis. It rides great now... The great thing is the weight distribution is...

    aux battery pros and cons...

You may consider something simple like a single large battery vs dual batteries. My experience with the Odyssey 1400 wasn't great. My ARB fridge would kill the battery after only 10-12 hours. The battery just doesn't have the reserve capacity required... Switched to the Die Hard 31M. It...

I changed to Mobile 1 synthetic at 20k miles. Planning to change the filter every 2,500 and oil change every 5,000. Toyota recommends using conventional oil every 5,000 miles. Just passed 22,500 this week. The truck had it's 1st bday last month. How time flies.

    Preemtive rebuild for a 3.4?

Those motors are good for 350-400k no question if maintained properly. I've seen many in that range (all original). Transmission is the same deal. With proper maintenance, cooling and not overloading it there is no reason it can't go over 300k. That motor / tranny setup is one of the most...

    Tire suggestions

I'd recommend the ST Maxx as well. Much better than BFG AT: sidewall strength, better traction off road, sidewall tread. Happy with mine so far. I've run the BFG AT and wouldn't buy them again.

May be pulling the trigger on a 2010-2011 4Runner Trail Edition

KDSS is optional on Trail Edition. It has stuff like ATRAC (works awesome), multi-terrain select, crawl control, heated mirrors, power seats, power inverter, water resistant seats, sunroof, rear sliding tray, camp speaker mode... Bit more than a locker. Here's the complete list...

Just re-used one of the factory hooks. Then cut off the short side and bought 1 new J-hook. Very easy project. I sprayed the J-hook to match the factory black one.

Thanks! It's a fun truck. Nice spending most of my time on adventures rather than fixing things. :) I'm happy with them so far. My initial impressions... They are quieter than MTs on road. Smooth. Excellent lateral traction, especially noticeable on gravel roads at higher speed. Mud...

That sounds like a stuck lifter. I'd pull the valve covers and check.

I use my winch 2-3 times a month. For me, it's a requirement. This group 31m deep cycle has plenty of juice for hard pulls. I've done winching recovery with the truck turned off and had no issues. Previously, I used a smaller Odyssey battery and Yellow Tops none of them had any trouble with...

I'll keep updating this thread for the long term review: http://gitout.com/showthread.php?1266-Tire-Reivew-Cooper-ST-Maxx-Long-Term-Review These tires are quieter than my brothers 235/85 Duratrac tires. They have good sipping similar to the Duratrac. The outer lug tread gaping is about the...
