Depends on where you explore. The places I go often lead to dead end roads on the side of a mountain and turning around with a trailer would be no fun. Also, my truck fully loaded averages 17-18mpg in mixed driving and easily gets 21mpg on the road (under 65mph). That's with it being lifted...
That's a clean rig! Find a Toyota shop to diagnose the transmission. They need to figure out if it's wiring (external) or something internal (like the valve body). Either way shouldn't be too bad to fix. I'd be surprised if someone would pay over $6k for it. It's still a basic strip down...
I reluctantly ended up going the canopy route. Actually, I'm very happy with the canopy. Having secure storage that is protected from dust and water is very nice. You'll need to either reinforce a standard canopy or go with something HD like this contractor canopy (rated for 500lbs on the...
Hard to complain about the mileage. My 2010 averaged over 16mpg over 10,000 miles (mixed driving). It got about 19mpg on the hwy including climbing the mountain passes. 5.7L exceptional motor.
Those tents are fantastic. I love mine. You might consider revising your attachment. The bed/cab are designed to move/flex independently. You will be stressing the tent mounts by trying to span between the two. You're best option is to either mount on the roof or truck bed not both. Nice...
Gitout Naches Expedition Trip...
Trip report: http://gitout.com/content.php?306-Washington-Naches-Trail-Expedition-August-24-25-2013
12 nights camping in the AirTop since July. Having a blast.
More camping this weekend. :)
HA - Maybe on flat ground in a stock truck. No way in a built truck! 2.7L is a dog compared to the 3.4L especially after lift, tires, armor etc. I found the SC'r was needed to make the 3.4L fun after building it. To me... I prefer driving with a light foot and plenty of power than raping...
Thanks for running the math on it. I was curious how the numbers would work out. I'd estimate the fridge is off 3 min for every 1 min it runs. I just added the exterior cover / insulation which may help somewhat. There is rarely a time the truck will sit for more than 2 days so this battery...
Longest battery test yet... 60hrs with the ARB Fridge running and truck turned off. Started right up. Who needs dual batteries? When you can have one big one! :)
They are building to the springs to hold a constant load of 1,000lbs while maintaining 3" lift over stock. With the ability to carry 1,500-1,600lbs and maintain approx 2" lift.
Took another trip down south and kept the speed at 60mph with AC on. It hit 21mpg for the trip. Gas light came on...
