Gitout Expedition Build - 2013 Toyota Tacoma DC TRD

I have never heard of the reserve battery. I have been wanting to do a dual battery setup in my WK jeep but this seems like a much easier solution. How do they work?

It's a heavy duty jump box. Just the emergency power in case the main battery goes dead. Another nice thing is being able to easily assist others with dead batteries too.

I think people are too eager to to jump on the dual battery setup. #1. Expensive. #2. Increased wiring complexity and potential for issues (simple always better). #3. They don't take into account the actual usable capacity of one BIG battery vs 2 smaller ones. I'm glad I didn't go with the dual batteries (my original plan) as this is much less complicated and has so much more usable power for my uses.

Winch is on the main posts. Truck on the smaller posts. Standard battery only has 2 posts. This is a marine battery and has an additional 2 posts.

They are building to the springs to hold a constant load of 1,000lbs while maintaining 3" lift over stock. With the ability to carry 1,500-1,600lbs and maintain approx 2" lift.

Took another trip down south and kept the speed at 60mph with AC on. It hit 21mpg for the trip. Gas light came on at 380 miles (5 gallons remaining). Going 70mph vs 60mph drops the mileage by 4mpg. I'm very happy with the results of premium fuel so far. And getting this type mileage with a truck weighing 6,000lbs with MT tires, tent, rack, awnings. :)
 
Longest battery test yet... 60hrs with the ARB Fridge running and truck turned off. Started right up. Who needs dual batteries? When you can have one big one! :)
 
^That is all great news love the real world testing. If my calculation is correct that battery should roughly last about 43hours with the fridge consistently running. Assuming it would consistently pull the 2.3 amps as stated. So I would also say your fridge is very well insulated and does not kick on all the time. :)

Thanks for running the math on it. I was curious how the numbers would work out. I'd estimate the fridge is off 3 min for every 1 min it runs. I just added the exterior cover / insulation which may help somewhat. There is rarely a time the truck will sit for more than 2 days so this battery should be perfect for my situation. I think more people need to evaluate if dual batteries are the best route vs getting on the "expedition bandwagon" and buying what everyone else does. Everything has its place and function.
