Taco got some new shoes this week! I really like the concept of the hybrid AT/MT tread designs. Of course, the most popular hybrid is the Goodyear Duratrac which is a good tire overall. But I don't like the somewhat weak sidewalls (most are 2ply). The ST Maxx by CooperTire is one of the...
I read about one guy who took a used 1st gen Taco shaft and swapped flanges and lengthened to fit. That could be the least expensive route... of course, you're dealing with used joints. My 100% new custom driveshaft with new carrier bearing (much heavier duty than OEM) was around $600. No...
You might also consider getting some custom leafs made by Deaver Spring. My OME HD springs couldn't carry all the expo weight. Add up how much weight you will be hauling; you may be surprised. Airbags are another option. SnugPro is a nice canopy option.

I'm running a SnugPro Commerical Grade fiberglass canopy. It is rated for 500lbs. It is plenty strong for the tent, rack, awnings, etc. But... The truck bedsides are not strong enough! I started having issues with them spreading. It was resolved by adding a...

The Diehard Group 31M is made by the same company as the Odyssey Group 31M battery. Specs are identical. I'm not aware of any differences between the batteries. If you can't get the DieHard Battery, you may be able to buy the Odyssey version.

I would highly recommend the single battery setup. Here's the deal... You will kill 2 smaller batteries much quicker than 1 large battery. I was...
http://www.lamin-x.com/ - It looks like they changed the 60" x 50ft roll to a dealer only item. May need to call them about that. Clear bra has been exceptional so far.
What was wrong with your transmission? Did you have a tranny cooler? Was the fluid serviced regularly? Did they determine what actually failed? Transmission failures are uncommon but there are many unknown factors that could contribute to failure.
Yes, the factory 3 u-joint driveshaft is...
Mike -
I looked at the Open Country AT2 and Fun Country tires. The reviews and on road drive-ability looks great. But the weaker 2ply sidewall has steered me away. 3 Ply offers much more strength/protection while off road. My brother is running the Duratrac 235/85 and they seem to work well...
Hey Mike -
The destinations are excellent tires. Wear well, 48lbs, 3 ply sidewall, soft rubber compound, good grip in rain, snow, rocks. They do have more tendency to chunk so you have to watch spinning them off road. I was surprised at how well they performed in deep snow. Plus...
That's good to know. I don't run tires past 50% so that's probably not an issue for me. My current tires are 70-80% and I'll be replacing them. I love new tires. :)
I'll be replacing my tires soon... Does anyone have experience with the Cooper Discoverer ST Maxx? 3 ply sidewall. M+S rating. Similar to the Duratrac tread (at/mt mix). Plus, it comes in the 235/85 size! Measures 31.95" so almost a true 32". 18.5 tread depth.
New record. 5 days! ARB 60quart freezer running continuously without starting the truck. Truck started without issues. For those of you thinking dual batteries are required... you might consider a big Group 31 like this.
Dakars are fantastic. I ran them with the additional leaf. They were good for about 400-500lbs of additional weight. Currently, I'm rolling with 900lbs everyday and an additional 400-600lbs on trips so I needed something custom that would handle the weight.
