2008 diesel land cruiser for sale?!?

There's nothing in that CL ad that indicates that's a diesel (aside from the text). I think its a scam. As far as the new 70 series, there are a few loopholes that could have it being temporarily imported, or it could just be someone breaking the law.

    ARB locker issue?

As Zack said do not be afraid to call ARB. Ask for Buddy King especially. Just got off the phone with him today.

    American Series Land Rovers.....

I just noticed the panhard bar/drag link orientation on that CR hoopty. It'll end up in a ditch the first bump he hits!

Realistically...how often do you use your hi-lift?

Snippy retort away - doesn't change the fact that a Hi-Lift is both a serious and a dangerous tool that few rarely learn how to use properly. The evidence is in this thread - photo after photo of dangerous practices. It's the same as people who hang around next to a loaded winch line, or recover...

$29 Harbor Freight tire tool vs 35X13.50x15

That's pretty cool. Looks a lot like the manual tire changers they use in less developed countries. Where kids actually DO use them http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gT4oltYbQN0

Realistically...how often do you use your hi-lift?

Especially when you don't know how to use it safely as your photos suggest (unattended, with the handle in the down position) A high lift is pretty much useless on its own without any attachments. There is a ton of stuff you can do with them for fire/rescue purposes the the average redneck...

    American Series Land Rovers.....

This one's on cart springs and is another one of my favorites. Timm Cooper strikes again. I believe it has a 6.0L LQ9 V8

    Back up/reverse light switching

Switch the ground side, not the positive side. You could add in a dozen switches all over the place and they all act independently of each other. Not like switching on the positive side where you would need to add diodes etc to accomplish the same thing.

    American Series Land Rovers.....

Haha! Jeff, I haven't seen a photo of my old tan 88" in a long time. That was just before I swapped in Toyota axles and power steering. Then, the frame broke in half. (rusted through from the inside out) :(

    American Series Land Rovers.....

Pretty much everything you have likely seen (including the above 80") was built by Timm Cooper. If you google image search timm cooper rover you will find photos and backlinks to a lot of information. This is one of my favorites:

Is there a way to bomb proof a 2004 engine?

I'm talking the complete job - including parts and labor at a Rover shop.

Is there a way to bomb proof a 2004 engine?

How do you do headgaskets "right" for $4k? It either just needs gaskets, and refurbed heads ($2500-ish max)... or it needs a new block ($7k-ish or more). Not much middle ground. I'd love to know what kind of things he's tacking on the bill...

Wow. Almost a $20k investment into the swap and it looks like crap and none of the OEM guages work. About what I imagined

Broke Xterra R180 front diff, best option for upgrade?

I feel like I'm in such a catch-22. Not sure if it's false economy to drop $1900 on a pair of ARBs for the R180 and C200 but that's where I'm at right now... I'd be out about $2500 total for this, versus $4k+ to M205 swap and build a rear axle to match (Dana 60 or 9")

Is there a way to bomb proof a 2004 engine?

Never heard of it. Have a link or photos? Being pretty intimately familiar with LR3 electronics, I find it hard to believe the vehicle works as designed after the swap... But you never know it could have been completed by an electrical engineer.
