    Atlantic British rebuilds

Oil choice is incredibly important. The Rover V8 is a flat tappet engine. Modern engine oils and flat tappet engines are not necessarily compatible. This leads to issues like worn out camshafts. High zinc content 10W40 with a good amount of detergent will keep a RV8 running happy for a very long...

    USA Defender Officially Coming?

Let's not forget, the 1997 Defender SW had an MSRP of $34,000. Where people get the idea that Defender has ever been a "cheap utility vehicle that competes with the Wrangler" is beyond me. $34k in 1997 dollars equals $49,500 in 2015 dollars. Pretty much on target for the scenario I described...

    USA Defender Officially Coming?

Incorrect. The sunk cost of development, production, and transportation to the USA means that in order to compete with Jeep, they would be at a razor thin (if nonexistent) profit margin. Take a look at JLR's profit growth in the past 4 years. This growth in profitability is 100% due to the...

    USA Defender Officially Coming?

It's simple. No one is ever going to beat Jeep at it's own game with the Wrangler here in the USA. The price ceiling for the Wrangler has yet to be found. A fully loaded, every option checked, JK Unlimited is around $45k. Thousands of Jeep dealers across the country take a $45k Wrangler, give it...

Clone of ARB Intensity LED Driving Light/Light Force 250!

Its exactly the same as CVT, Tepui, and other roof tent resellers that all basically took after ARB's design. When you are the innovator/leader in the space, this is what happens. Similar to the way BMW or Mercedes releases a new car line, and then within 2 years Honda or Hyundai redesigns their...

Clone of ARB Intensity LED Driving Light/Light Force 250!

In my opinion ARB got caught in a bad position with this one. As an innovator and brand leader you are expected to be the first to come out with cutting edge top shelf products. And they did. What they didnt count on, was the rapidly decreasing production cost of good quality LED lights and...

Solving the gas Crisis - 95 Discovery I

It ended up getting parted, the 4.6 was built incorrectly (top hat liners not installed properly) and the rust free bodyshell and chassis ended up in Glens Falls NY. Not sure whats happened to it since then, that was about 4 years ago.

Solving the gas Crisis - 95 Discovery I

Almost makes me wish I kept mine :( I should have put a 300 in it when the 3.9 blew... instead I put in a built 4.6 and the truck was never right. It was a Coniston Green '95 originally from Texas, zero rust. How long until this one encounters its first body damage Zack?

    1985 FJ 85 - Australian Market import

Did you even read the section that I referenced? Please tell me why, if multiple transfers of the same title is illegal, there is a section of the title law that specifically tells you HOW to do it! I understand you may have a grudge against "title flippers" but that does not make your...

    1985 FJ 85 - Australian Market import

Diesel Freak, if what you say is true then why are there places for multiple successive reassignments on the back of the title? This is the same in Massachusetts. I also know the DMV laws in my own state very well (I worked in the new car business for many years). Often times, vehicles would...

    1985 FJ 85 - Australian Market import

Diesel Freak I am not sure if you are correct about the title flipping laws. It is perfectly legal to buy a vehicle (a piece of property) and NOT register it for use on the road...

    Gov Siezing Old Trucks

That is absolutely correct. Defenders with galvanised chassis are automatically flagged as illegal when they hit customs, even if its a perfectly originally restored 1985 110. Galvanised chassis = not original = tampered with.

    Gov Siezing Old Trucks

To add some clarity around the potential VIN tampering issue, as you all know Land Rovers are widely known to rust. A lot. Frequently, its the chassis that suffers the worst. This has created an entire cottage industry in the UK of producing factory correct replacement chassis. These replacement...

    The 255/85R16 Tire Official List

Ah, the sky is not falling just as I thought. Now, the other piece of information that I was given about this re-launch is that they are going to be cheaper (at least wholesale) when they become available again. We will see if that comes true as well.

Black LR4 in Moab, anyone off here?

You can hear how much he's getting into the throttle and loading up the torque converter just to get it to creep forward. These things have a really low crawl ratio - the engine would not load up like that if it were in 1st low.

Black LR4 in Moab, anyone off here?

That would have been a lot easier in low range.
