Just purchased a baofeng, do I really need a license?

I also agree with the sentiment that a lot of the ham culture is obnoxious. I wish it wasnt, because its all very interesting stuff. I have 2x of the UV5R and use them mostly on GMRS/FRS frequencies (yes I know thats technically illegal) and to listen to my local law enforcement channels. I...

What's up with BFG mud terrain km2 availability?

Do you know which part number said discontinued? My wholesaler has 5x #30639 inbound from BFG right now. Edit: called my guy to confirm, he told me that the 5 they have inbound are the last 5 they will get of the 30639 number. The new part number is 04222 and will be available mid-April. It...

What's up with BFG mud terrain km2 availability?

Not true. It's a part number change. The old part number is discontinued. The new part number, 30639, is not quite yet available. But it will be. The sky is not falling.

    Series 1 Disco Engine Swap?

The number one question that needs to be understood... how much budget do you have to play with and what is your mechanical/electrical/fabrication skill level? I know a few people that could complete a nice LSx swap for maybe $4000. But I know a lot more people that couldn't get a good...

    Red Wing Heritage Boots

I wear a pair of Beckmans just about every day - have had them for about 2 years. The sole that comes on them is junk. It looks luggy, but the rubber is ridiculously hard and the "tread depth" is minimal. They do not have much support or cushioning, to be sure. And zero insulation (which is one...

Rumor of Synthetic Winch Rope Issues in Cold Weather?

Speaking of the drum heat issue with synthetic line, has anyone considered having the outside of their winch drum ceramic coated? It would not cost much... probably $100-$150 based on the estimates I've received to coat my intake and exhaust manifolds.

    The 255/85R16 Tire Official List

It looks like it's just been a part number change for the 255/85 KM2. I was on BFG's site this morning and there are two 255/85 part numbers, one listed with an MSRP and one without. Calm down everybody...

1999 DII blown head gasket - question before buying

No RRC's were OBDII compliant - that only started for the 1995 RR 4.0 (P38) and for the 1996 Discovery. roverrandom I'm with you on the CSK... what a machine.

1999 DII blown head gasket - question before buying

If you know what you're looking for, you can look through the spark plug holes (or even look at the plugs themselves) to get a good idea. A lot of people have been burned by what they think is a head gasket, but is actually a bad block.

1999 DII blown head gasket - question before buying

Make sure it is in fact a head gasket problem and not a bad liner in the block. That will multiply repair costs x5 at least. Quick way to tell - if the middle 2 cylinders (#3 and #5, or #4 and #6) on either bank are "steam cleaned" inside from leaking coolant, it is definitely a block. If its...

Maine Winter Romp 2015: Who's going?

The handle should never, ever swing up and down violently if you are using it correctly. From what I have seen, this happens when someone is in the process of lowering a vehicle and either A) isnt paying attention to what they are doing, B) they let go of the handle by mistake while its not in...

    1971 IIA Dormobile

Yes model years get tricky with UK vehicles because they are titled as they are registered, not by the VIN as they are in the USA. On an unrelated note, by the serial number my 1972 SIII is one of the first 300 SIII's built. Probably within a few hundred of this beauty. Jason, your dream Rover...
