MY DREAM BUILD… ULTRA-LIGHT "GO FAST" CAMPER.

I have to say, "molten titanium foam" is the single most expo thing I have ever read on this forum. Would that be Snow Peak branded molten titanium foam? :)

    The 255/85R16 Tire Official List

This is so strange... I understand that 255/85 is a bit of an obscure size, but 285/75 has got to be one of the most prolific Jeep and pickup truck tire sizes out there. Makes zero sense to discontinue... Maybe we are seeing the beginning of a transition to a "KM3"?

Boring Hams Talking About The Weather

Perfect example of all stick and no carrot. "Wouldn't be easier just to get your license?" How? I disagree about the skill and practice necessary to operate under most circumstances... I an an unlicensed Baofeng pirate and From the time my radios arrived on my doorstep, I had them both fully...

Boring Hams Talking About The Weather

I just want to say that this is an excellent post, that I agree with, and I won't be surprised if the HAMs try to beat you with their stick (and no carrot). Love the analogy!

MY DREAM BUILD… ULTRA-LIGHT "GO FAST" CAMPER.

I don't understand the concept of a go-fast camper. You're going to have so much weight, and such a high COG (even with the lightest possible design), that it just doesnt make sense. The flippac idea is close, but the weight of the interior stuff is still going to be huge. If you make it light...

    10"W tire on a 6"W rim?

Hi Ben, it will be absolutely fine. Lots of tires that width out there on Land Rover 5.5" wheels. You won't be able to tell any difference over having it on a 6.5" wheel.

Boring Hams Talking About The Weather

Robert Bills living up to the sterotype. You and I both know what he means by 16 channels of public HAM bands. 16 designated frequencies for public use. But then that would be taking "your" airwaves away, right?

    Is it really that bad?

Head gasket issues really only affect D2's from 99-04 and some P38s in the same time period (although not as prolific). Rover V8s prior to the D2 were known to be a 200K mile engine largely...

Disco 2 - air temp and electrical issues?

Take the blinker switch out, clean all the terminals on the connector and also spray contact cleaner into the mechanism and work it through. Cruise control diag can be a pain... do you have a multimeter?

What would you do to a Tacoma with 5k?

Good tires, make sure the suspension is in good shape, maybe a winch and recovery gear depending on what you're planning on doing (alone or with a group?) and just go explore!

    Is it really that bad?

P38 Range Rover did have some electrical teething problems... although I would argue that most are indeed overblown. P38 electrical issues: HVAC head unit (usually just pixels burning out) HVAC blend door motors (kind of a pain to fix but also livable to ignore usually) Door latches failing...

    Is it really that bad?

Find a nice Range Rover classic. these were available in the USA from 1987 up to 1995. A lot of people like the 95s because they have an "updated" interior (basically carryover from the Discovery). For what you are describing, I bet a 93-95 Range Rover LWB would fit nicely. You could also look...

    Is it really that bad?

Strangely there really isnt a "unified" Land Rover forum in the USA. There are individual model line specific forums. Defender Source - www.defendersource.com DiscoWeb - www.discoweb.org Range Rovers.net - http://www.rangerovers.net/forum/ Guns and Rovers -...

    Is it really that bad?

With regards to "electrical issues", in many cases that is an absolutely overblown catch-all excuse that people use to explain their dislike of Land Rovers. Just about every electrical problem I've encountered is caused by either A) the owner or other shop messing with the wiring to install...

Delaware/Maryland - Early Ford Bronco w/ Four Wheel Camper on CL

Not surprised at the asking price... values of all vintage 4x4's are skyrocketing. This one has a narrower appeal with the camper but the rest is all correct.

    Is it really that bad?

Dude you read repair manuals for fun... why has it taken you so long to get into Land Rovers? You sound like the perfect LR owner :) The key phrase you mentioned was "common sense". That goes a long way with owning one of these.
