Katie and Greg 1 year road trip in a VW Syncro

I am probably the one naysayer on roof mount solar. The issue is you can't park in the shade. Some kind of quick release and extension cable so you can set them in the sun when parked in the shade can make life much better. Otherwise, I love the synchro and wish you a wonderful trip.

    Wheel Spacers????

I don't think it is wider so much as it is a closer match to the front. If you steer to miss with the front, you miss with the rear. If you steer to hit square with the front, you hit square with the rear. I think a lot of the instability used to come from the back hitting the holes different...

    Wheel Spacers????

Rear spacers were the single best thing I did to improve driving on potholed roads, better than good shocks. If you are staying 2wd, order from Fred at wheeladapters.com He turns his from billet steel and makes them both lug and hub centric. I would NOT trust the aluminum ones with that much...

JB1RDS B190 Build (it's gonna be slow) of Henry!!

COOL! I will be doing the same, as soon as I can plan the downtime (it is my family van, not just a weekend warrior vehicle).

Yup, keep us posted. Is there a reason you sent yours in vs. buying the reman first? (just curious)

    Outside Van (builder)

The kickouts are slick, seen them in real life (or another brand that does the same thing). They clear the slider just fine as long as you don't mount anything in the window area on the door. It still isn't a lot of room for a tall guy, but it is enough that it is possible to sleep in other...

Very likely picking up an 01 7.3 e350

The pressure switch is ~$20 and 15 minutes to fix. They have failed to full on engine fires. The other problem that can cause intermittent ABS lights is dirty/rusty front wheel sensor rings. Clean them up and they work again.

    37 on stock quigley

It will be an issue, just whether or not making a lock would be a bigger one. How far does it swing? You might be able to put a D ring on the side and tether it there when open. Or maybe put a fold-down table on the back side and let its drop down legs be the support. It looks simple and...

    Ram Promaster City announced

The long hood is CRUMPLE ZONE. You are not going to get around that with everyone wanting 5 star crash ratings as a minimum. I agree that they are all ugly. And not a cute or quirky ugly like an element or xB. But when has an minivan ever looked good?

Anyone know of a converted 24 passenger bus?

I have looked at both styles--his and the ones that keep the regular passenger door and seat. This style makes a much better RV platform--the stairs take up a huge amount of space. You could add a jumpseat from a UPS truck if you want the option of sitting shotgun.

JB1RDS B190 Build (it's gonna be slow) of Henry!!

My EGR was bad and I had vacuum leaks as well. Fixing them made it run better, but didn't entirely fix the problem. If you do the EGR, order the connector pipe, too--there is a 99% chance it will break while trying to remove the valve. I also did the plug wire re-route to avoid crossfire...

Anyone know of a converted 24 passenger bus?

SWEET! That interior is CLEAN. I like the color! Perfect for a stealth camper, but you may want to paint the roof a light color. White elastomeric if you go cheap, khaki/coyote linex (with matching rocker panels) if you want bulletproof.

JB1RDS B190 Build (it's gonna be slow) of Henry!!

You probably need every extension you have to reach the front two. A good flashlight and spotter (or mirror) help, too. Even the lifelong Ford mechanic complained how hard they were to get to.

JB1RDS B190 Build (it's gonna be slow) of Henry!!

That sounds LOW for hours to work on a van. As you shall soon learn, grasshopper... I was looking at an MSD because it is roughly the same price as a Motorcraft or less. I can't find an answer whether the "complete" motorcraft distributor includes the TFI module or cap/rotor. Or just how...

Banana scale for E350 heater core, headliner, cam position sensor?

Headliner is not hard, but is complicated. Lots of pieces have to come out first. Be careful as the side panels can be brittle.

    Chevy AWD

Ford keys used to be $60 NEW (I haven't looked in 10 years). There were a couple of the early $100+ leveling kits that were found to be rebranded ford keys (back in the early 2000's). And they are a known quality. If you can find them in a junk yard, even better. If the front feels soft, I...

JB1RDS B190 Build (it's gonna be slow) of Henry!!

I have a 94 (but a 351) and have a similar surge/stumble issue. I have tried all the cheap fixes, I think it is the TFI module on the distributor. Even hooked up to the Ford scanner, they couldn't find a code--just a random miss. Now I can tell it gets worse with heat. Right now I am...

Anyone know of a converted 24 passenger bus?

Sounds like a fair price if the condition is what you say. It depends how much of the interior you want to keep, sometimes it is better to get a ratted interior if you are just going to rip it all out--but the clean drivetrain is probably worth it. They don't really seem to go for that much...

    Chevy AWD

Not on a van, but on my Silverado. They were almost at the top from the factory. You can use Ford keys, they are indexed a little different, or you can check the color code and go to stiffer torsion bars.

JB1RDS B190 Build (it's gonna be slow) of Henry!!

There are conversion connectors made, so you can patch or add on to the old work without completely replacing a whole house. But replacing it all with new pex may be worth it for the headache factor--what will you do if you spring a leak in the middle of nowhere? FWIW, the recall was really...
