or insane. I have been called both, sometimes in the same breath.

Ford E350 7.3 Ambulance vs. EB Cargo Van, which one to buy and convert to 4X4 camper?

Biggest ambo issue is seating for the kid(s). For a couple it is easy, but adding the third seat without them feeling "locked in the back of the paddy wagon" can be a challenge, even for a walk-through. Other challenge is HOA's and parking the things--they are NOT stealthy. But for a good...

    Converting a fixed hi-top into a poptop?

I always thought it would be easier to just cut the fiberglass top in half and reglass in a hatch-like frame if you were DIY'ing a one-off.

Flood damaged 4wd ambulance for sale on eBay

If they knocked about 50k off the price, MAYBE. I have dealt with fresh water flooded vehicles with minimal electronics (old tractors and dirtbikes) and they are a PITA. Salt, aluminum, and lots of crevices you can't get access to? NO WAY.

    "Jackur" 2003 Ford E350 Diesel 4X4 Build.

You could add a second disconnect outside so you could run from the main propane tank. Outdoor kitchen under the awning.

    "Jackur" 2003 Ford E350 Diesel 4X4 Build.

That ladder is simply brilliant! I love how you lined it up with the window profile--not that they really have a lot of visibility, it just makes it look "right" You seem to have a really talent for melding boxes and curves together and making them look natural.

Getting close to owning a van and need help already!

Where is the van now? start searching craigslist for seats. The mounting points for the seats haven't changed since I can't remember when (like the 70's), BUT the thread pitch for the mounting bolts did (I found out the hard way) and the brackets changed as well--so look for seats WITH...

    Tired of looking.

http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/55074-UJOR-Build-Thread?p=1273995#post1273995 And that van sounds really cheap--like something is about to go. If it is the tranny, fine since that probably needs work anyway for the conversion. If it is the engine, not so fine. The rear axle...

    Tired of looking.

Well, U-joint is dropping a cummins into an econovan. Anything is possible with time, money, and skills. Unfortunately we all are missing at least one of those, I am missing all three.

Brainstorming the mounting of the sofa bed

This. You can do it cheap with a 6" chunk of strap iron with the nut welded near one end to be the fender washer and strap to position it, but bolting it solid makes it much easier in the future. I have positioned nuts and fender washers in position by taping them into a box end wrench, just...

    Scoutkid's van is HERE!!!

On your picture, it would replace the battery isolator** but with the current running the other way. Listen to show#2 here for details: http://www.battery1234.com/ He uses his regular jumper cables to jump the starting battery from his "house" batteries--I agree that is the right answer if...

    Scoutkid's van is HERE!!!

Solar charge controllers make fine battery isolators. Charge the house batteries when the engine is running, won't backfeed, limit current so you can downsize your interconnect wires (still need welding cables if you want to self-jump), smart charge, and isolate so you can have multiple...
