    building the Bullet XV

Like everyone else here, I did a search on the Bay after reading your post. There's no complete jack, but there is a NOS power unit (pump and hose) listed for $237. Seems like you got a great deal on the package! BTW, the labeling on that Bogert pump does indeed show it to be a 6500 psi pump...

Buying & Building a Medium Ambulance into an RV – The FAM-BULANCE

Thanks Bob. Those are exactly what we have, as you probably guessed. Fortunately we aren't missing any and none of them are broken. They're pretty impressively sturdy... like everything else on these rigs. But, it's nice to have the information in case we need to get a replacement or add more...

From Freightliner ambulance to RV - we hope!

Oh, yes I've been inside that console! And it's exactly because of what's in there that I don't plan to move the wiring. PITA is an understatement! Basically, I'm going to rebuild a console that's about three or 4 inches thick. I'll put rubber on the top, for Ruby feet. Thanks again for the...

    1994 International 4700 Conversion Begins

I'm sorry I didn't see this post until just now. Do you have a tank yet? I'd be curious to follow your progress. We planned on using regular portable bottles, to make them easy to refill. But I'm still toying with a mounted tank. If you need a bracket or mount welded up, just let me know. I'll...

From Freightliner ambulance to RV - we hope!

haha, Guidolyons... if we waited until it's "done" we'd never get out. :smiley_drive: I used my remote purchasing application (my sister) to pick up a CraigsList find for the front of KETO 1. Right now, we've got a great big beast of a center console that is, really, an almost empty box...

    Temporary cooler

For cheap and disposable, and pretty darn effective, it's hard to beat plain old newspaper. My dad used to do this and I remember how well it worked.

For scale, here's Kara next to a front tire. The tires fit here, without lift (yet) or cutting. We still have lock to lock steering, but they're only 12 inches wide.

Thanks, guys. Oz, they were actually your measurements and calculations that made me decide to do nothing with the panhard rod. I measured the axle offset, relative to the frame, and I can't measure a difference with a tape - so, close enough for us. We did a bit of a trial run yesterday...

From Freightliner ambulance to RV - we hope!

Thanks! Definitely didn't want this part to fail... haha! I don't weld aluminum, but I like to think I know what I'm doing with steels. But, I want so many aluminum things... :-) Well, we went on our first expedition today - to Sam's Club of all places (we don't have a Costco here...). :(...

    Alternate Winch Uses

Raising a wind turbine tower with a gin pole is my most common winch use. I put a receiver on the front of my Dodge, with a quick-connect cable fitting, and we use it for standing up towers. Got to make sure to chock the wheels though.

Hi Scooter, thanks! I made my own lift blocks. I'll pull up the installation photos, and pics of the lift blocks themselves, to post and document for you. I did mine differently than Ozrockrat (which probably means I did mine wrong, since he seems to be an expert in all things big truck...)...

From Freightliner ambulance to RV - we hope!

Work does interfere with progress... but we're making some, finally. As we last left off, I'd cut the fender wells and pumped up the airbag suspension to the max to fit the new 42" tires in there. But, it wasn't really drivable like that, of course. And, with the airbags deflated the box...

Bob, that's a clean extension job - looks good. Pat, yes we've got some of those. Changing out the pin is a good idea. But a couple, including the one we'll use for the jack and tools, have a different bracket and a looped spring. Those protrude over 2" down from the upper frame, which really...

Thanks, Bob, for sharing this. I've downloaded it to print and keep handy.

Our cabinet #1 (I feel so official...) isn't deep enough for a 30" table, but there are lots of 18" wide tables classified as "seminar tables" which will work well for our use. We're going to be getting skirts for them and they'll be product info/sample tables at events. Of course, our new...

From Freightliner ambulance to RV - we hope!

Thanks Bob (and Pat, whose post showed up after I read Bob's). I presume the electronics cabinet wouldn't be numbered, right, as it's not a storage spot? In our case, cabinet #2 was consumed with a spare tire. I'll edit the post above.

From Freightliner ambulance to RV - we hope!

Thanks, guys! I couldn't resist... :) Anyway, back to serious stuff... my daughter and I are back from LegoLand, unscathed. I've got lots to get done this week, around work and life. But, first up is the suspension reassembly so it's drivable. Next, time to get organized and plan some...

    AmboLander

Oooooo, we want more info on the barrel locks! Our rig has cores with 3 different keys. I followed the forum link, but it looks like I was supposed to find Post #69 and there weren't that many in the thread. So, I'm missing good info! Where did you get the cores you used? Thanks! Ross and Kara

Bob, thanks! True, indeed, we didn't know that. I felt like this wasn't a "first out" runner, so thought that was good. But this sounds like the proverbial "grandma only drove it once a week" vehicle. :) Edit: I guess that means ours was babied?

Thanks hyperboarder and Pat. It seems well built - I'll definitely post my installation pics and our experience with it. I had to come to California to visit a sick wind turbine in Phelan. Well, guess what, the site was only 30 minutes from an aircraft boneyard (and movie prop dealer) in El...
